You lot might want to check out the website. Exopolitics.org It's refrenced in an interview. Intresting site, it's about extraterrestrial presence in politics. That's where Matt got the idea from, being one of the people who listens to the man who wrote all of the papers on the site. The original lyrics for this song were also very good. |

The song is about a soldier who feels like they're being used as a pawn in sort of something they don't believe in, and loses hope. This is actually an older song that they took, and toned it down. The recording is live with a few sets of backing vocals recorded laid on over top. This song is supposed to have a jaded feel, and is meant to lead right into Invincible, the next song on the track. Muse are not truly a political band, but are heavily influenced by the world events, and it affects us all. Many soldiers actually don't believe what they are fighting for. Some of the older ones joined the army before the war, and when you sign up for the army, you put your life in their hands. You jump when they say jump, shoot when they say shoot, and cannot retire until they give you their permission. No they are not drones, my father is currently in Iraq, I lost an uncle, and my stepmother was shot in the back several times while she was there. Matt's uncle on his mothers side was killed by the IRA. And of course Matt cares about the war, as he has said that he believes the American government had some sort of hand in it all. Which they probably did. If you look into some of the conspiracy theories that Matt believes in, you will find that they influence some of their songs.
