| The Jesus and Mary Chain – You Trip Me Up Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Astonishing sound. Sums up the bitter/sweet nature of love. | |
| The Asteroids Galaxy Tour – The Golden Age Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Pretty sure that should be Sally Bowles in a cabaret. | |
| Pink Floyd – Grantchester Meadows Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
They really are just random sounds for which you've constructed some "meaning" out of nothing. Why would Roger Waters, an avowed atheist along with David Gilmour & Nick Mason, be singing shite about a "Saviour"? To quote Waters: "Please, God - I'm an atheist so maybe I shouldn't be asking God - but let Barack Obama finally win the Democratic nomination..." |

| Scott Walker – The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated to the Neo-Stalinist Regime) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Full title is The The Old Man's Back Again (Dedicated To the Neo-Stalinist Regime) which tells you exactly who the Old Man is (Stalin for the historically challenged) and its subject matter - the brutal repression by the Czech/Soviet forces of Dubcek's "Prague Spring" liberalising government of 1968. Great song. |

| Paul McCartney – Let Me Roll It Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Whoever the 'wise man' referred to above is/was, he's full of shit. This is a sideswipe at, and subtle mockery of, John Lennon. It was brought about by the cheap jibes of Lennon's 'How Do You Sleep'. War is over. |

Massapequa has got it nailed. It wasn't the thene to World in Action but Weekend World. |

| Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Bollocks to the lyrics, this song is all about the sound and feel. You can almost literally smell the sulphur from Frankie I's inspired guitar sound. | |
| Black Sabbath – The Writ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Possibly the best Sabbath track from their most underrated album. Melodic, very heavy with one of the most vicious lyrics ever penned. | |
| The Beta Band – Dry the Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Christ, I miss the Beta Band. Why are people discussing a second rate film when we should be praising one of the finest bands of the last decade? Lyrics are typical stream of consciousness nonsense but delivered in such a wonderful deadpan manner. The new psychedelia music is just about note perfect. Get well soon, Steve. |

| The Beatles – Hello, Goodbye Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
A throwaway song for The Beatles that would be the pinnacle of most other bands' career. Beautiful counterpoint in the melody. Fuck off with the rape 'idea' you fucking dipshits. I'm only surprised no fucker's come up with the "it's about drugs" line. |

| The Smiths – Meat Is Murder Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I literally cried when I first heard this song. I had tears rolling down my cheeks and could scarcely breathe. I damn near pissed myself laughing at this melodramatic piece of shit. Schoolboy moralising from a hypocrite. Rabbithowl, you're profoundly right about the double standards of the leather-wearing lyricist. I'll gladly concede that the conditions of most USA slaughterhouses are intolerable - for those interested, Eric Schlosser's excellent and very readable 'Fast Food Nation' will provide plenty of ammunition. UK and European standards, when adhered to, are more tolerable and 'humane'. I think it's the smug, self-satisfied aura some vegetarians wear like a cape that makes me want to puke most. Or maybe it's the thought of a veggie diet... Maddox, as usual, has something to say on the subject: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=sponsor |
