| The Black Eyed Peas – Boom Boom Pow Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"I'm so 3008, you're so 2000 late"... That doesn't make sense...I understand what they are trying to say...they are in the future, yadda yadda yadda...but if they are so 3008, and we're 2000 late that would make us living in 1008. Come on, Ferg, math skills... Apparently in the future boom boom boom basic arithmetic is not necessary. |

| Alanis Morissette – Not As We Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I interpret this song to be about a death...maybe of a husband, or child, or parent. It doesn't sound to me like a break-up song, it sounds like something that defined her has been ripped from her...as if she didn't see it coming. Someone said earlier that it reminded them of a miscarriage...I am a choreographer and my first thought when I heard this song was of a friend who recently had a miscarriage, I envisioned choreographing a dance with that story line. |

| Alanis Morissette – That I Would Be Good Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Take heart all: You are still good, and great, and loved through all things. You were made in the image of the creator and although we all have offended that creator and we all screw up, he is still ready to forgive us and say "You are good, even though you have done nothing, even though you got a thumbs-down, even though..." You are not good at all...neither am I. But God is good and because of the cross he is ready to forgive everything and see us as good. Amazing. |

| Regina Spektor – Uh-Merica Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think the deeper meaning is that violence is America's security blanket. I'm not even going to pretend to be up enough on my history to know any more than that. I just think Spektor is saying that America's confidence is in the fact that if anyone comes against us we can just kill them. I am not commentating to whether or not I agree, or whether of not this is true, I'm just saying how I interpret her lyrics. |

| The Weepies – Gotta Have You Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I love the line "There's no Spring in the middle this year"...no spring means no renewal, no restoration from the death that came with winter... sad...but in the future she sees it all...hopeful. |

| Rosie Thomas – Tell Me How Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think so...I don't know much about Rosie Thomas's life, but it seems like she has a lot of songs that mention her father negatively. | |
| Ani DiFranco – School Night Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I LOVE the lyrics of this song. Absolutely brilliant! Great imagery. She's obviously choosing between two lovers, probably her husband/long time boyfriend and the guy she's cheating on him with. Ani DiFranco is such a great artist! |

Haha...and I just now read the post before me...hahaha However, I didn't search for it, someone gave it to me...and I'm not in love with it, actually, I don't really like it that much. But still, I kinda still fit the same catergory!!! lol |

| A Fine Frenzy – You Picked Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
ploodie already said what I first thought about this song. We make it to where we are hard to reach us, we want to do things our way and we want to do it by ourselves. Funny how we always want to do things our way and then when we get there we feel like know one cares about us and that we're all alone. I don't know if this was written about God,but in my life, I'm making it about God. |

| A Fine Frenzy – Almost Lover Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Who can't identify with this song? Seriously, we've all been there. This song is absolutely beautiful! "Should've known known you'd bring me heartache, almost lovers always do" Love that! |

There's finally a song with my name in it! Last week I met a friend of a friend and introduced myself and he said "like the song"...he told me about this song and then I heard it and found out it was actually good! YAY! My current myspace song! |

| Leah Andreone – Problem Child Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
this song is so sad but so beautiful...the "yeeeeaaaahhh"s after the "la la"s are so haunting to me. It's so harsh, but eye-opening...children go through these thoughts everyday...wow |
|
| Jennifer Knapp – Faithful To Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song too...it's so true...all the time and effort we waste trying to accomplish something that ultimately "crumbles, like sand 'neath the waves." In the end...His ways are higher than our ways, His thoughts higher than ours...He's the only one we really can count on! |
|
| Jennifer Knapp – Refine Me Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is pretty self-explanatory...I just love these lines: "When I only think of my own fear, they are gone in a moment. You're forever the same thing." Why should we fear such fleeting things? We are so stupid and really just prideful to think that these earthly things are worth stressing about. |

| Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| And I agree with the thought of it being a continuation from Blower's Daughter | |
| Damien Rice – Cold Water Lyrics | 18 years ago |

someone mentioned earlier that they thought maybe that chanting at the end was something backwards, Since I have no life, I decided to reverse it and speed it up. It definitely says "come with me." Just a bit of info...that's all. |

| Rosie Thomas – Pretty Dress Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I always thought of it being motherly, but for some reason I always thought it was her singing as if she was singing to her younger self. I don't really know what gave me that impression though. |
|
| Rosie Thomas – Tell Me How Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I can't believe nobody's commented on this yet! I love this song. I think it's just about how we, as women, feel like we need to be able to protect everyone, and have all the answers, and love everyone...and sometimes it just feels like you don't have the capacity for all of it. Rosie Thomas is just a brilliant artist. |

| Rosie Thomas – Bicycle Tricycle Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I agree with what you said about it possibly being about her father. Maybe she doesn't want to set herself up for another disappointment ("So he can't ever rain on my parade"), and she also feels like he is disappointed in her, he expects to much from her ("I can't be homecoming queen...") Such a beautiful song. It's like she steps into her inner-child and sings with such honesty. |

| Jann Arden – Hangin' By A Thread Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is so meaningful to me. I always have loved this song...but it wasn't until last year when I could really understand and appreciate the lyrics. "All the tears fall down inside"..."the salt inside my body ruins everyone I come close to"...All those tears that build up inside make you see everyone with a tainted perspective, it ruins everything good in people. You almost feel as though, because you are around them, they are ruined. "I miss you all, I wish I were with you now, I wish I was"...WishYouWereHere wrote that Jann wrote this about her brother who was in jail, so the actual lyrics were apparently meant to be literal (he was physically separated from everyone) but when this song was so relevant for me, I felt like I was present in body, but my heart was not there...my soul was absent from everything it was passionate about. AHH so powerful! Thank the Lord I have been set free from that time in my life! |
