Can anybody shed some light on the lyrics that talk about Pilate washing his hands to seal his fate? I've read a few of the other postings and: Dog ends are cigarette butts Bogs are restrooms that were at least partially underground providing some sort of heat The army's up the road....Salvation A la mode (making fun of the Salvation Army) The sad part is that when Aqualung is approached he is scared, probably because he is used to being pushed away and down trodden. Evidenced by the lyrics "don't you start away uneasy you poor old sod, you see, it's only me." |

I agree that the song is about racial issues, however, I think that the "boy next door" is actually a black girl and that is why he asks if You're gonna let your hair hang down. He's in love with this black girl from the wrongside of town and his Mom is pissed. He says that nothing really matters, and the girl stands and cries because she knows that it will never change. I say go and get you some brown sugar, Robert Plant! |

The awesome thing about this song is how the two riders approaching at the end of the song are the Joker and the Thief!! They are having this entire conversation on their way to attack the castle, of princes that have oppressed them, the women and the servants for so long. They have resolved to do something about the social injustice winds of change are blowing behind them. How right the Thief is when he says, "there are many here among us, who think that life is but a joke," We are trapped in this state now with people worrying about what Brittney spears is doing instead of what's really important in the world. Let us stop talking Falsely now, Let's stop lying to ourselves and stand up! |

Call me a geek, but I skimmed almost all the opinions on this song from the first post back in '02 until now. There are some interesting opinions on this song. El don back in '05 had an interesting post, but I beleive that what the lyrics are saying, "I watched the glee while your kings and queens fought for ten decades for the Gods they made" refer to the 100 years War and the fact that the rulers then and through out history(even today) have used religion to there evil ends like in the crusades. Then Tcannizzo said that this was about Patton, which is very interesting the conclusion he drew and I had never thought of, but Kennedy's were killed post Patton, unless he still lives on??? Hmmm??? If Patton still lives get his phone number and maybe he can bail us out in the middle east. |
