I love this song.
I agree with your general idea. I think that the metaphor of a lighthouse is also about the narrator trying to guide the arguers, so that they would make up, possibly a son and two parents? |

This is one of my favorite "Going To"s
I'm sure it has some kind of deeper meaning to John, but from what is actually given in the lyrics, he's seeing someone who he didn't expect to meet again, and they look back at him, and it's awkward :). |

Oh man, I saw that too, and I thought it was so much more powerful. I was kind of dissapointed when I read the booklet and it said light. |

Hey, by the way, does anyone know what he's singing in the background during the bridge right before "don't go to sleep" |

I think it's probably about coming out of denial about someone dying the narrator knows. |

Ok, fixed.
Yeah, I agree about the breaking and entering thing, but the line right before the bridge "you will remember some of it, but if you solve it, you will remember all of it" (epic epic stuff) is kind of confusing me. Almost makes it seem like some kind of murder mystery, and also like there's more to the lyrics. |

Well, until reading these lyrics, I thought it went "Y'know loves random, it's God's love," so I thought he was talking about the lack of free will in the world. But now that I read them, it's pretty straight forward. Seems like he's angry at God because someone (maybe him) always prayers and does everything God asks, but something bad has happened to them. |

I think this song is about life, and how anything even existing is amazing and strange. Parts like "What a curious life" and, "How strange it is to be anything at all", etc. show this.
I think the "What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen" part is also about this. He's singing about how short life is, and after we die, there won't be any trace of anything left.
In general, I think the song is about the cliche idea of living life to the fullest because of how short it is, except the bridge, which I have no clue about, but it probably something to do with the holocaust. |
