| The Silver Jews – We Could Be Looking For the Same Thing Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Small difference to what is written but I think it is, "where the days turn the weeks into months of the year" Just like in Suffering Jukebox it is "these seconds turn these minutes into hours of the day". I also think it could be "*where* together, you and I" and the rest of the song follows. |

This song gets better the more attention I pay it. "all these doubles drive the dollars and the light of day away" That's double spirit measures. People spending their money on drink rather than the jukebox. I agree that this is probably autobiographical, and he is probably the jukebox, which makes "suffering jukebox in a happy town" a really sad line. |

| The Silver Jews – What Is Not But Could Be If Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"so how do we get out of this? family shadows all of this through what is not but could be if with all associated risk" Seems to be about the fear of the unknown. How do we get out of it? By carrying on unknowingly, "with all associated risk". Seems a positive message to me though, like he feels enlightened by this and he's revelling in it. That's why he keeps repeating himself. |

"Little, asian, deadly, like a cobra in the sand"... is very probably... "Middle-aged and deadly like a cobra in the sand". Fantastic lyrics in this song. I love "she went her way and I went his". Nice ending. |

| The Flaming Lips – Fight Test Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think it's pretty unambiguously about a girl. "If I could I would but you're with him now it'd do no good I should have fought him but instead I let him - I let Him take it -" I don't think the "you" he's talking about is a Ferrari or a signed copy of "Revolver". Anyway, I think the chorus really makes this song. I take it to mean "it's alright to not know". Also, losing the girl through apathy is a horrible feeling, so he is comforting himself by comparing with other things he cannot change. Putting it into perspective. I guess he uses sunbeams and stars where other artists use God. I've said too much. |
