This is such a very sad song. Even though people have previously said it was about Jack the Ripper, it always reminded me of the witch trials in the 1600s. Yes, I know the date is all wrong, but I think it holds true with the theme that humanity tends to judge people, and once they're condemned, refuses to think differently of them, no matter how innocent they are. |

Yes, the title of this song has always confused me. I was really shocked when I first found out who Burt Rutan was. I don't really understand what it has to do with the song.
This is my favorite song on the CD too, and it's truly powerful. |

I think this song is about someone who is too fixated on a symbol, like a celebrity, to notice the life around them. From far away, everything is more beautiful. The title "Semiotic Love" actually means symbol love, as semiotic means having to do with semiology, the study of symbols. |
