| The Afters – Summer Again Lyrics
|
I think this song is about change. The specific example from the song is obviously the seasons. The singer is mourning the fact that the summer is over and fall is taking its place. But I think the meaning can be applied to various other instances.
In fact, I'm writing a research paper about September 11th, and after doing some research I listened to this song and it totally applied to 9/11. This song is just so good, and the melody is outstanding. |

This song kind of reminds me of growing up in my little hometown. The part that I like best is "I've got a hundred years of down home runnin' through my blood" because I can relate. My family has been in my hometown before it was a town, which was 100+ years ago. |

I've always thought this song meant that our life on earth is just a rehearsal for what it's going to be like in heaven. We're going to mess up in life, but we'll learn from those mistakes, and once in heaven, those mistakes cannot be made. |

this song is hilarious. and i get sucked in every time i hear it. there's something about it that's catchy. and i'm not from the south either, but i am from a small, sort of hick-ish area, so i can kind of relate.
but i love all the rambling when he sings about the Piggly Wiggly and the fried chicken. :) |

I think this song is about proving that you can do what you say. I picture it as two young kids just starting a relationship and everyone doesn't think it will last, but they know better. |

I love this song so much. This song and My Wish are definately two of my favorite Rascal Flatts songs. They're both just so real and honest. I've been thinking about tornadoes lately, and it makes me think of all the people who have lost all they have due to storms, whether they be hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, etc. and how they just have to get up and keep going. They stand when they want to be crying and mourning over their loss. But they get back up and tough it. I really admire people like that, and that's what this song means to me. :) |

When I first heard this song, it made me think of "I Hope You Dance". I used to love that song, but I think this song hits the nail on the head. Hands down, this is easily one of my favorite Rascal Flatts songs. |

Ah, I love this song! It makes me think of my hometown before all the subdivision developers found it. These lines are definately my favorite because it seems that every time I try to remember the past, I get bombarded with reality..
Sometimes I dream I’m driving down an old dirt road
Not even listed on a map
I pass a dad and son carrying a fishing pole
But I always wake up every time I try to turn back |

I love the honesty this song has. I heard that they were going to call it "I'm Just Fine" or something to that effect, but they were all going through hard times and decided that it would be easier to just be honest instead of acting like everything was good. I think that's what I like most about this song...the honesty. And of course, the message is good, too. |

I love this song. I should find a meaning for it (I am a Christian and understand all this stuff) but I listened to this song so many times on a vacation that when I listen to it, all I think of is that trip to Florida. :) But hey, that's what it means to me, a trip to Florida. |

It makes me think of my hometown. We're not big enough for a Walgreens, but it used to be tons of farmland, and now it's snobby rich people who have high paying jobs and big houses. This song is just reminiscing on how good the old days were. But man, I must say I do feel old when I hear this song. :) |

This is one of the first songs I could really relate to. I've always been ready to leave home, but it seems that people always told me 'you'll have time for that later' when it was what I wanted at that particular time. And, basically all that she says here is true of me. I love my parents to death, but I just absolutely can't wait until I'm out on my own. |

| The Fray – All At Once Lyrics

I don't look at it as a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, but one between an individual and God. The individual tries to find other things to satisfy himself, but compares it to what he really wants, which they will never be able to give him. That's why he keeps trying out other things, but in the end he realizes that he needs God, and not all these useless things on earth.
My favorite line is 'sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same.' I find myself thinking that all the time. It's powerful, and it's very true. |

I can't believe that no one has commented on this song yet. I've just recently come across it, but it has really impacted my life so far. It is just so real. I'm still in high school, and this song is like my anthem. Kids at my school are always aching for the right things, but they find them in the wrong places. They want to be loved, but they just don't grasp yet that it's God they need. |

I love this song. Not all of it is completely true of me, but I was born and raised in the boondocks, and I love it here! Although, the town I grew up in and currently live in is trying to become more "urbanized", just north of town is really rural once you hit the county line. Ahhh, this song is so reminiscent of my past...I love it!! |

I really like this song for it's honesty. A lot of songwriters try to write about things that make you feel good, but that are so unrealistic. I really like when writers write about real things that people deal with, and I think this song is an example of one of those songs. |

First off mr e 87 was right on when he said Switchfoot's really good with hopeful songs.
Like a lot of you guys said, at first I didn't really like this song and classified it as a depressing song. But now I really like it and I've realized that it is SO true. The world is going downhill, and one day, after the world is ended and we are in a better place, the poor and deserted will be found, and things will be better. I think this is a hopeful song. |

I really like this song. The first time I listened to it, I thought why on earth did I buy this? But it grew on me, and I'm not exactly sure what I think he's talking about. When I listen to it, I see it as a guy in a house in rural Indiana, playing a piano, looking out the window and reflecting on his life. I think he's singing about a guy who is well traveled, because I think this guy has been to the beach and the mountains, but is afraid of commitment. And that's why he's glad she never fell in love with him. |

I really like this song, perhaps because it hits close to home for me. Lyrically, it is so true of me. I'm from a small town, I'm always daydreaming of what I want my future to be like, every now and then, I feel left out and unnoticed, and there are times when I just want to leave all of it behind. I think that's totally what it's about. |

| Mat Kearney – Girl America Lyrics
|
Libby18, you made a great point about this song that I've never realized. I've always seen it as the song that is about the average American girl. I guess the song can go both ways, but I tend to think it has a little more to do with the individual girl rather than the nation. I also agree that this song is brilliant and I really like how honest this song is. He sings about issues that are hear and are everywhere. I think it is simply about a girl just trying to figure out who she is and who just wants to be accepted. At least that's how I've always sensed it, partially because I've been there and am still dealing with some of these issues.
I think the most promising part of this song is the last verse. I am a Christian and I believe that this part of the song can even be inspiring to those who are not Christians. It reassures that even if it seems like no one loves you, God always does, and He always will. |
