I can see the similarities cited between Map of the Problematique and Enjoy the Silence, but I wouldn't call it a rip off, not in the slighest. Bellamy has stated that he is a Depeche Mode fan, and of course anybody influenced by another musician is going to have an element of their music come out into their own.
But anyway, I absolutely love MotP. It's my favourite track from Black Holes and Revelations. My favourite line is:
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
It's Bellamy's clarity to write elegant lyrics such as this that makes me such a huge fan of his words and Muse as a band. |

I'm with IndustrialWasteland in the sense that its making fun of how Goth has become such a trend for those trying perhaps to rebel against their parents with their love of angsty music and spikey bracelets from Hot Topic. A definite parody.
The dance mixes of this song are much better than the original, I have to say. |
