Meg & Dia – Courage, Robert Lyrics 16 years ago
Gorgeous song. I think it's about the marriage between Robert and Clara Schumann. They met when they were young and he studied music with her father... their whirlwind romance was disrupted in their later life by his mental instability and early death. I hear this song about his struggle between his music, mind, and love, and how musical genius can have destructive effects on his personal life. Even though he has the courage to compose symphonies, he is unable to confront his love for his wife, and can only express himself through images and sounds, which aren't enough.

OneRepublic – Come Home Lyrics 18 years ago
Whoa. I just heard this song on the last Gossip Girl episode and was like...damn this is familiar...it's OneRepublic! GG has good taste.

I think the song is an anthem for all the young people struggling to establish themselves and their beliefs in a chaotic world that doesn't take idealism seriously. The singer is beseeching them all to "come home", because home is where they belong, not the corrupted battlefield, where they should be growing and living with the people who love them.

OneRepublic – Say (All I Need) Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't think he means that he literally only needs air to live. What he means is that he needs her true and unconditional love - his "air" - and her understanding and comfort as a haven for him - somewhere "to rest his head". The girl in the song is not so much materialistic as she is guarded about her heart; she traded it for unrealistic expectations in a relationship that she realizes didn't turn out as she imagined. All he wants is for her to let go of her inhibitions and love him.

OneRepublic – Mercy Lyrics 18 years ago
I am so moved by this song. I hear it as the singer's lament to being saved, rather than an expression of relief. Whatever mistake he made, all he wants is to lose himself in his vulnerability: "All I wanted to say/all I wanted to do/was fall apart now", and feel the beauty in the breakdown: "It's all my fault now...A tragedy it seemed to be". But he can't because for some reason he has been shown mercy, and he is not only allowed to but forced to take another chance, to collect the broken pieces and regather his strength. He wonders, "How did you find me?/How did you pick me up again?/How did you move me?/Why am I on my feet again?" as if he is so tired of enduring his life's pain that all he just wants out. But the "angel of mercy" forces him to keep going. I find the bittersweet lyrics and the powerful acoustics very haunting and very beautiful.
