| Brand New – Seventy Times 7 Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This song is BEAUTIFUL! For those of you who did not know, the title actually comes from a Bible verse. In matthew 18:21-22, It says "Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, 'Lord, how many times shall I forgive someone who sins against me? Up to seven times?'. Jesus answered, 'I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.'" Just as the song has the do with forgiveness the Bible verse does too. You should also hear "There's no I in Team", by TBS. It's the other side of the story. :) I love both bands. |

Am I the only one that thinks this song is mocking Christianity? First of all, I LOVE this song, and I've been listening to it repeatively lately trying to figure it out. And I've come to the conclusion that its sarcastic. But is meant to be interpreted which ever way the listener takes it. Especially these parts lead me to my thinking.... "Jesus Christ, I’m alone again So what did you do those three days you were dead? Because this problem is gonna last More than the weekend" --I think when he says "What did you do those 3 days you were dead?", is claiming that he doesn't think Jesus was really dead, but instead just hiding out from his problems. Cause if he was "dead" he wouldn't have been doing anything, right? and then he goes on to say "Your problem lasted a weekend (Jesus was dead for 3 days), but mine is worse, so when I hid out (like you did) what should I do?" "So do you think that we could work out a sign So I’ll know it's you and that it's over so I won't even try I know you're coming for the people like me" --He's saying that he thinks there is no hope of him getting into heaven, so he is asking "Won't you warn me when your getting ready to come back (the rapture)?, so I can give up and get ready for hell." "But we all got wood and nails." --The "wood and nails" represents jesus' death on the cross. So he is saying we are all just as equal as Jesus is. That he didn't really do anything when he died on the cross, it was just wood and some nails, which we all have. This is just my take on it. No offense to Jesse, but I don't think he is a Christian. If he is some of his lyrics state otherwise. But Jesse (judging by his other songs) does seem to have a good idea about the Bible and things relating. In Seventy times 7, he says "They say you need to pray if you want to go to heaven but they don't tell you what to say when your whole life has gone to hell." this definately gives the idea that he has a problem with Christianity, and doesn't believe it. No, I am not judging him, he is my favorite song writer EVER! and for those of you that havent heard the acoustic version, you should. It's with Jesse Lacey and Kevin Devine. It's even better than the regular song. |

i don't know what to exactly think the song is about... i think at first it appears to be about leaving school & growing up. but... even more it seems to be about a relationship. possibly where he really loves the girl, but she doesn't love him back anymore. she doesn't seem like she really cares about him or being with him. "you dont hold me like you used to and your eyes look like theyve seen too much cause its always some excuse-- too tired, too obtuse. you look so far removed. this time i fear im losing losing you." |

this song is AMAZING! I think Rihanna does a great job on it... but they do it soooo much better. it pulls out the meaning when its less hip-hop and more acoustic sounding. I think this is definately one of the best on Punk Goes Crunk, and if you liked Punk Goes Crunk you should check out the Punk Goes Pop & Punk Goes Acoustic CD. they are great too :) |

| Mayday Parade – I'd Hate to Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This is my favorite mayday parade song right now. I'm going to go through the song and tell what i think each section means, idk if i'm right. This is just my opinion. "And we both go down together We'd stay there forever Just try to get up" They both fell in love with each other (like going down in love), and they stay in love forever. "And I'm sorry this wasn't easy when I asked you Believe me And never let go" It wasn't easy letting go of their relationship, because he did love her. So he's telling her to not let go of him. "Well, I'm thinking of the worst things That I could say to you But a promise doesn't mean a thing anymore." I can relate to this part alot. They probably made alot of promises, and he's thinking of something to say.. but after all of their promises being broken...promising her something won't mean anything to her. "And this never will be right with me." He will never be ok with what happened and how he broken up with her, but he had to. "And now you're trying to desperately" She's trying to make him stay with her because she doesn't want to break up. "But I'm tongue-tied and terrified of what I'll say." He doesn't know what to say to her, and he's scared he will say to wrong thing. I think he is trying to stick with his desion to leave her, but he knows he loves her so he is afraid he will actually end up staying with her because deep down thats probably what he wants. "And then we both go down together We may stay there forever I'll just try to get up And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy when I asked you Believe me" this is repeated from the beginning. "You never let go But I let go." She's still in love and not letting go of him, but he let go of her. "I could only sing you sad songs And you could sing along And you could see the melody That's been calling out your wrongs." This pretty much speaks for itself. I think she did something to make him not trust her and thats what he is talking about when he says "calling out all your wrongs." "And this never will be right with me And now you're trying to desperately But I'm tongue-tied and terrified of what I'll say." repeated from before. "But I never told you everything I'm losing hope and fading dreams And every single memory along the way." He wasn't ever completely honest with her, and he is now forgetting her, and all of his dreams and how much he loved her, and he is forgetting all that they had been through together. "And then we both go down together We may stay there forever I'll just try to get up And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy when I asked you Believe me You never let go But I let go And we both go down together And stay there forever Just try to get up And then we both go down together We may stay there forever I'll just try to get up And I'm sorry that this wasn't easy when I asked you Believe me You never let go But I let go." all in song earlier. I LOVE this song, I can relate to it soo much, its crazy. |

| Backseat Goodbye – Play Three Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is probably my favorite song right now by Chad. I'll write below what sections of the song I am talking about and what I think it means.... "bright day, blue sky, sunshine" In many of his songs, he is just talking about the day, the weather, and the color blue. :) "remember what they told you forever's never if you ever leave it up to you." He is saying to his ex. That when she says "forever" its really "never" cause thats what she really wanted. "fuck that i'm gonna forget this" He's saying whatever, he doesn't care anymore and he's going to try and forget what happen, and forget her. "saturday in the middle of august" He's just randomly saying when that this happened. "three steps from a sudden death but the sidewalk is my friend" He is 3 steps from killing himself over this girl. But then he says "the sidewalk is my friend", i took this as he's walking on the "sidewalk", he's got 3 more steps until he's going to end his life, but he won't cause the sidewalk is his "friend" and won't let him. "for now, i'll wait." for now, he's going to wait on dying, and just try to get through everything. "i'll count the clouds from a broken gate." He's outside counting the clouds, probably just trying to quit thinkging of her. "'til the neighbors call me names and tell me how they hate how i changed so much i used to smile alot and talk about love but now i'm all alone and my hair is so long" I don't think this is just talking about the people next door, I think just people in general that he is normally around, They noticed that he is now sad. He used to smile often and talk about love. But now him and that girl broke up so he is all alone. and he's not happy. "so long i'll see you in a month or two don't write to me, i won't write about you." I think here he is talking to his ex again, Saying "goodbye", I don't want to talk to you again. So he says "don't write to me, i won't write about you" saying he won't write music about her. "and put it in a song vailed in pretty words and chords." this song here is pretty much that. But he says he won't write a song about her with pretty words and chords. "hey how are you? the sex was great and i miss the nights don't forget to turn the tv off." Once again, he is talking to his ex, like this is what he would say to her. It's funny what he says, because it is so random. It's like "how are you? ohh yea and the sex was great, I miss it. oh yea don't forget about the tv, turn it off." haha. Its great. "if you think you're wrong then you might be right about yesterday and the summer that you lost but keep on smiling, 'cause this is what you wanted." Still talking to his ex, Saying you think your wrong, but your right about their relationship she lost. Porbably there relationship was in the summer. Then he says to "keep smiling, cause this is what you wanted", thats one of my favorite parts. She probably broke up with him, and he says just keep on smiling, cause remember all this is because of you and you wanted this. "bright day, blue sky, sunshine remember how they fooled you today's not over if tomorrow's still a word you use" first line, repeating from the begining. Then pretty much he just points out that if you say the word "tomorrow" then "today" isn't over. "fuck that i'm gonna end this" he's gonna quit thinking of her. "sick sigh from the light they brought us three nights a week i can't sleep eyes wide open while i think of you" I don't really understand the first line. (but if you figure it out tell me). Then he says he can't sleep, because he is thinking of her. "for now, i'll wait i'll count the stars from a broken gate 'til the neighbors call me names and tell me how they hate how i changed so much i used to smile alot and talk about love but now i'm all alone and my hair is so long so long i'll see you in a month or two don't write to me, i won't write about you and put it in a song vailed in pretty words and chords hey how are you the sex was great and i miss the nights don't forget to turn the tv off if you think you're wrong then you might be right about yesterday and the summer that you lost but keep on smiling, 'cause this is what you wanted." This is just repeated from before, except now he says watching "stars" from a broken gate. "i'm not sure if you remember me but if you do then you might see this is the end." He is saying to the girl, he's not sure if she remembers him. But this is the offical end of them, their relationship is over for good, forever. This is a great song, that I can really relate to. I'm not sure if everything I predicted about the song was right, but it was just my oppinion. |
