I do not agree with Soulfly about talking about committing suicide only for attention. If someone is sick enough to talk about killing themself there is obviously something wrong and they need help - no matter if you think they will actually do it or not. By the time you read a suicide note it's probably to late to save that person's life. I think people who commit suicide leave notes or poems because it's not like they can go up to their loved ones and be like "I wanted to let you know I love you and I am going to kill myself." It is not left to be evidence - their dead body is evidence. Some artists write songs about it - doing it - but it's just a song. Some find suicide fascinating or frightening - or maybe just because it fits in their song. But when a person actually turns around and talks about doing it - wanting to do it - then we need to take that seriously before it's too late. If you are the person they choose to talk to about it - make it your responsibility to help them or find someone who can. |
