I'm going through a very similair situation to these lyrics so i have a good idea what its about.
His girlfriend left him and is dating some fancy new guy who she really should hate but cant seem to see how wrong he is for her. The guy hardly shows any interest in her and is just stringing her along leaving her alone the night that the songs covnersation is taking place. He knows that the girl is upset about her boyfriend ditching her for the night so he asks "Where is your boy?" and "I hope he is a gentleman" saracastically to hopefully make the girl realize he doesnt care.
I'm quite sure the lyrics are "Take my chances on WHO I forget" and "DO you need him? I could be him" |

To me this is just about life in the band and struggles with it 27, is very likely a reference to the death at 27 thing, and the chorus, im pretty sure what he means is that his mind is full of great songs that they'll all get rich off, if he doesn't die. |
