These are some interesting theories. I don't know if it factors into the meaning, but in an interview that can be found on Youtube, circa 1998, Homme explains this song is based off a dream he had. In it, he and the rest of the world are walking on a sidewalk. Then they all start floating away into space, along with him. They continue to get farther and farther apart until Homme can't see them anymore, and it's just him, all alone in space. The people then turn into stars, and that's how the stars get in the sky. Then they all start to come back towards the sidewalk, everyone coming back down. But they remain stars. Everything gets brighter and brighter until everything is white. Freaking damn dream, I wonder how it factors into the meaning, if at all? |
