So, I've lurked alot around this site, and never posted. But this song enticed me to do so. Along with everyone here, I must agree this song is beyond creepy. Still, somehow I think that this song hold that religious (or well non-religious) undertone that most all Shins songs have. "you may notice certain things before you die. mail them to me should they cause your algebra to fail." I think talks about how near death, a person begins to learn and understand life from points of view that may cause your entires life point of view to change, in this case, a religion. (Algebra, the way I see it is used as an oxymoron, this man's algebra has failed, but his algebra consists of believing in a blind faith, that he might go to heaven for instance, but rather is going to die and nothing is really going to happen) |
