How has this song got no comments?
I think this is about a friendship where one person is in love with the other but they don't know. There is hope within the lyrics that someday they will love them back. Regardless, it sounds like they have a good relationship.

'But I crumble completely when you cry
It seems like once again you've had to greet me with goodbye'
Alex Turner is a genius. This song is absolutely epic. I interpret the lyrics as describing his relationship with a woman he is sexually attracted to. 505 references a hotel room. |

How about no? Thom Yorke is not a gifted lyricist.
I say this as a huge Radiohead fan. You're just being extremely pretentious and annoying. If you think the lyrics are 'deep' to Kid A or Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors then you're a retard. And they're just two examples. |

I think the song is about drugs. The obvious giveaway is the name 'Temptation', but there are several other references in my view.
"Heaven, a gateway, a hope" a reference to different levels of conciousness? "Betrayed by words, I'd never heard, too hard to say" is reference to the level of openess expressed while on drugs and feeling betrayed that you couldn't express yourself sober. Similarly, "To break this circle that's been placed around me from time to time, I find I've lost some need" is describing cycle of use and the need to take drugs. "Up, down, turn around" is self-explanitory.
Also, 80s = ecstasy
Well, that's my interpretation anyway! |
