I think the song is about a person who has done something wrong (probs cheated) to the person they love, theyve tried to hide it but its eating away at them.. "Selling myself for my own life" like hes going to tell her cos its ruining him, hes selling his happiness with her to make himself feel better. hes tried just telling her little bits of the story.. "But pieces are only as good as they're whole" saying a bit of the story wont make it better, he may aswel tell her the whole truth shes then tries to leave him "I cut off the only thing that was right." she was the only person he loved and wanted, and he ballsed it up like all guys do. hes then trying to tell her things to make it better, probs show the puppy dog eyes and tell a load of bull shit saying "I wont let you walk away... Without hearing what I have to say" thats my interpretation, however some parts dont fully connect to it for instance "I'd die right next to you in the end" (which is a fuckin awesome line, may i add) but, the lines "That place in my mind... Is that space that you call mine" although dont fully relate, may possibly mean that the place in his mind, is his because he wont let anyone else know, its a secret, thus is his place. and up until now, he has kept her unbeknown of the "place". im probs wrong but, a lot of the other interpretations dont make much sense to me, like i dont get that whole stalker concept much. but anyhoo :)! swesome song no matter what the meaning! peace out! |

I love the "she thinks im sad but thats alright" bit. its reminds me of my mate for some reason.. she fancys this lad who hates her haha... pleb... anyhoo yeah.. i agree with jess... it is by far one of the best songs on the album but it cant beat "lets dance to joy devision" I LOVE IT! |

I personally think this song is about being with someone and giving them little by little what they wanted, then its not enough thus the "wheels of your life their slowly fallin of" it slowly goes crappy the relationship, then you have to give it in, what you have, the relationship was your life. i think the "but my god just woke up on the wrong side of his bed" bit means that the ruler of his life has fucked it up, like its normal side is good, but the wrong side is bad thus theyve fucked up the life. but thats my interpretation, im most probs wrongs =) ah well... kick arse song, one of oasis' best! |
