i think the guy was tired of fighthing all the time with the girlfriend...so he went out one night and cheated on her of course with a vampire! so now he can't go back toi his girlfriend cause he's a vampire..."i dont know why you want to follow me tonight" means tha the girlfriend want to join him to his place now but he wont..so thats why he disapears at the end.. he tired od being sorry cause he did a mistake and now has to pay for the rest of his life...
