It's about God. How he's never there when you need him, and he basically only shows up once something horrible's already happened and how he never prevents any of it from happening. This is all stated pretty clearly in the chorus and the first verse. There's also a little bit of anger towards God in the third verse, how he's given so much to God but he never gets anything in return.
It's pretty much the band giving the almighty a vicious tongue-lashing. |

Oh, and the title of the song 'Idioglossia' makes me think that since 'he' and 'her' have been though similar events, they have a sort of connection that's reminiscent of the whole "twin speak" thing that Idioglossia really is. |

Seems to me that meeting 'her' has forced 'he' to remember the violence of his past since she's been through something so similar. Now he has to confront them, and the lines leading up to "stealing what could have been me" were directed at the one who abused him as a child. |

This song is beautiful, and was probably the most emotional song of the entire film. About how the time they've shared has been great, but they have to let go. So beautiful... |

reptile: As for you thinking that the music sounds far too happy to be about the child being murdered; it's called musical irony. This song is a perfect example of it. |
