this song is a sad song but its got nothing in reference to suicide..my interpretation is probably forged thru my xperiences -its about 2 ppl who at some stage were in love, and they seem to keep wanting to get back together and although they do, atleast he knows : "it hurts too much to be "Closer than this" and he knows she has had too "And with one hard look I can tell That you've had enough of these useless sunsets" sorta useless temporary get-to-gethers "sunsets" cos they both know it cant work for longer than a short period, although they wont it too- which is the source of the sadness in the song.. also it gives a little description of where the source of why they cant be together - something bad to do with her father. and in the last verse it describes them sitting in the car which is a negative conveyed thru the radio turning to static and feeling quite tragic, where they find themselves back in the hold that she used to sit so comfortably in so theyre both back in the relationship, where they used to sit comfortably but they dont now..theyre stuck in a rut.. probably could have said that in half the amount of words so sorry 4 any1 who read that all :) |

yeh i also regard this as the killers 2nd should have been, sams town and sawdust was a total let down :( but as for this song its my favourite from the bravery-i think its pretty straight forward that this chick he likes can see everything and understands him..although there is a hint that this maynot be a good and happy thing thru his choice of word he uses to describe it " ur gentle eyes like a razor blade" contrast.. |
