| Wheatus – Teenage Dirtbag Lyrics | 17 years ago |

What? A guy sings this? Okay, so that makes my interpretation somewhat irrelevant, but here it is anyway. First time I listened to this was earlier this evening on the radio. Came to the computer and found out who it was. Downloaded it. Listened closely with the lyrics an inch before my nose. Because I thought this was sung by a girl, I didn't think 'crush' of any kind. That whole verse about Noelle's boyfriend didn't quite figure for me, seemed a little pointless. Though it could make sense if it was about teenage lesbians... but that's different again to what I thought the rest was about: Simply put, this girl feels like the oddball and looks up to Noelle, alpha female of this school, and wants to be noticed by her. Then she is noticed, Noelle claims to be just like her, and the singer doesn't like that. "How does she know who I am / And why does she give a damn about" Delivered with aggression (just like the chorus -- she thinks she's a dirtbag and is reveling in self-hate). How do you know what it's like to be me? kind of thing. You have no idea. Don't patronize me. It's an overreaction I can totally empathize with. Like what Origamian said: everyone feels the oddball around then sometime, and they're never the only one. But the singer kind of wants to be. Also, "no she doesn't know what she's missing" doesn't fit in my theory either. Hey ho. Irrelevant meaning-ramble over. |

Hardly a hidden meaning. 'Open up your heart, sing' Sound advice. Singing always makes me feel better. |

| Take That – Rule the World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's *probably* a coincidence, but in the 'If angels cry, oh I’ll be there for you' line, the way he says 'if an-' sounds like Yvaine. Which is the name of the star in the film/book. I can't help hearing 'Yvaine jels cry' every time I listen -- a little annoying actually. But I still love this song, it's very pretty. | |

I think near the end it's 'We're leaving yeah, we're leaving' not 'We're leaving you, we're leaving'. Could be wrong. I agree with the meaning. Really like this song, first heard it playing Sims, too. Heh. |
