Before I interpret this song in any way, I just want to say that Damien Rice is quite possibly the most amazing human being & musician to ever exist. Okay. This song makes me so terribly sad, though it is quite exquisite. To me, it begins with the singer telling his lover that he knows that she is maybe not happy in their relationship and he is telling her to take a break or do whatever she must to find herself, to be happy again. He's telling her that she shouldn't cry, just relax, he understands and everything will work out how it's supposed to. But towards the end of the song, he has cried so much himself and he is just so exhausted that he finally let's himself sleep because his days have been rough also. I know there have been times where I have cried myself into such an exhaustion that there was absolutely nothing else in this world that I could do but sleep. |
