It reminds me of Heroes. Not just because of 'you save the girl, you save the world' but I do think that it reminds me of Clare. A life of love A picture of a place I'm nowhere near A bleeding heart A good head start to anywhere but here - A picture of a place I'm nowhere near reminds me of when Clare's mother takes a picture of Clare to remember her by and then leaves for Mexico (A good head start to anywhere but here.) Just let me out Please let me out Before I turn into A box of things Reminding me how much I'm missing you (I am missing you) - reminds me of when Clare was with the Petrellis and she didn't think she'd ever see her father again. Or possibly how much her mother would miss her, but more likely her and her father. You save the girl, you save the world Well, that's not true, it seems A lesson learned Speak out of turn - save the cheerleader save the world, it doesn't really seem like tha. since in the 2nd season, sylar could have killed adam instead. and in the first season it wasn't always clear why clare needed saving. speak out of turn - nathan said 'am i speaking out of turn?' to clare's mother when they were on the phone. or something. but really, all that shows is that i'm just majorly obsessed with Heroes. hahaha. |

i just had the most random thought. dull as a coat hanger - the abortion. pretty as a picture of a patient on a fresh iv - the mother, after the abortion; like, obviously it was really dodgy and not done properly and the mother could well have had to go to hospital - so she was on an iv. giddy as a gangbanger with a set of sutures where his magic johnson ought to be - if the girl who got the abortion was raped maybe she bit off his penis like on grey's anatomy? haha. what an episode. no, but like...if she was raped, 'a set of sutures where his magic johnson ought to be' really reminds me of forms of punishment in the medieval era - the punishments suited the crimes; like if you stole they'd cut off your hand. if you rape they cut off your, well....manhood. haha. that's what it really reminds me of. which probably doesn't make any sense to anyone else but me. |

I agree with the comment saying that the Dresden Dolls are too clever to release a song about how technology is ruining the world. Although I do believe that some of the song is about that. I've always got the feeling that it's about society in general; There are parts that remind me of technology, some that make me think of how big enterprises are taking over everything, and to some extent; how people these days are (every time you turn around your soul gets sold) and 'night gets in the way of progress' - how everyone wastes their days and spends their nights doing stupid things. |

| The Dresden Dolls – Delilah Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I don't think that it's about prostitution; despite the possible referrences to it. To some extent, it reminds me of the story of Samson and Delilah. "You're just a sucker for the ones who use you" It kind of makes me think of how Delilah was paid to betray Samson, and how the Phillistinines (Is that right? I don't really read the bible...) paid her for it, as though they only used her to get to Samson. Also, it makes me thinnk that it is about Amanda. And how she is possibly looking back at a certain time in her life and thinking about what she would say to herself if she could speak to the her of the past. If that makes any sense. And possibly it reminded her of Delilah from Samson and Delilah so that's why she used the name? Just a though...but it does seem, that from the emotion in the song, that it's more of a personal issue. |
