I was about 15 when the smash album came out. I played that cassette like crazy. The other day I'm driving my 13 yr old step daughter to the library and she asks if she can pick a song on the MP3 player and what the hell does she pick? Smash! I'm like, "what hell do you think you're listening to?" She explained that she downloaded all my songs on her MP3 player and has been listening to them for a while now. I asked her if she really liked the song and she thought it was bad ass. I turned it up. It's a vicious cycle and I love it. I hate how damn trendy her school is with all the little aeropostale hollister heads posing all the time. I'm trying to teach my kids something besides material gain and mass hypnosis and I can't think of a better song. |

I dig this song the most out of all the Everclear songs. I guess know the feelings and frustration of this song. It really touches on the subject of women always wanting to be able and talk to their exes and expect them to understand. I know we men can be A-holes, but jesus! where's the sense in rehashing everything? "I wish that I could have a drink and make you go away!" But it doesn't work. It just aggravates the situation. The old girlfriend is trying to talk her old boyfriend like everything is all honky dory and she's oblivious. That just kills the dude. Maybe she should listen to some Alanis Morrisette so she'll understand. He still wants her but he's doing his best to forget her. She's not an option anymore but she ain't making it easy either. |
