dont know if anyone noticed but in the end it says "no it's 7 so its 5 hours before 1998"the exact lyrics with which starts song"contrast and compare" well anyway, this song is amazing and i can really feel him when he says "And I’m sure that there are reasons for everything that happens And absence leads to adoration, yeah it’s nobody’s fault" when you want someone that you can't have then you tend to adore them,to think of them as gods or something and this absence is that makes you say "I think that I deserve her More than anyone deserves anything Maybe I am selfish, but there is no way to share this There’s not enough to go around, I don’t care who else gets hurt" you ache so much you can't stand you,you really "spent a year quietly dying" |

he mostly acuses people of their behaviour.he critisizes people who try to cover their lies, those who believe that money is everything, the thing that we have every scientific gadget available but we don't love each other. our lives are like movies,"but at the end of the play"we realize that noone was there for us because they are leaving and we stand in a blank space(a space without love) but he doesnt only accuse people he doesnt know, but also his family for not knowing him as well as they should this line "I just keep drinking the poison"relates to something else he had said as well "but time is not poison but once you drink it all you die" so hi might be talking about life itself or for all of the above(seeing people caring only for money is like poison) |

this song relates a bit with "june on the west coast" he is in a relationship "well i left my baby" but he seperated form her because he had feeling for another girl, his true love "for a love that's only in books i read" after he left her he tried to find this other girl but he couldn't and then admits that he can't go on with another girl because his feeling about the one are still alive. then he tries to make sense between sense(logical part)and his feelings ..he has to move on even if he can't and must escape but he can't even think of the ways he can escape cause the thought of this certain girl are all over him... afterwards he is talking about how we always think of time but all we do is think of time and let time go by without enjoying what we are doing(probably refering to his past relationship and that now that its over he appriciates it)and tries to find it by "starring drunk at a map" i can't explain the next lines that much :P |

i can't explain everything but this line"And if all the years of searching find one sympathetic face Then it's there I will plant these seeds and make my home"is about his one true love who probably did somehting bad to him and didnt care much which is obvious by "And I felt I was on fire, with the things I could have told you I guess I just assumed that you eventually would ask And I wouldn’t have to bring up my so badly broken heart"..then he left, thought that everything would be better,he tried to move on but it was then he realised that "I thought about my true love, the one I really need" the thing is that he knows he can't get back to her because " Because I know I can’t keep living in this dead or dying dream" i can really feel him |

| AshJWilliams the line you are refering to means that : people write songs for something that they find beautiful, but she is so beautiful that it's like she is a song on her own....at least that's my interpretation ;) | |
