| The Black Dahlia Murder – A Vulgar Picture Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm just not hearing some of the things here. Commonly with bands, the lyrics will be written and printed but in the recording the singer will change a word here and there. I think that's what happened here, because certain parts of this just don't sound like what's written down, at all. They're small little corrections here and there, but in the actual recording I hear: Now the funeral grounds are at last awash With the blackness of this frigid autumn night I lurked into the graveyard with pick and spade in tow This night shall birth forth our reckoning Hell's jaws, now open wide A stare to pierce six feet of soil A love beyond this mortal coil As though you never left my side, I hold your stiffened body so close to me For years I've lived in a dream Awake, I felt as dead as my cold and bloodless bride-to-be I can barely suppress my elation! My blood is racing as I strike the lid A quick pry of the casket reveals her body, paralyzed How long I've waited for this moment, To thrust my fingers deep inside! Now you will live the song of the deceased The ones whose souls will never rest in peace! The throes of necromantic lust infest my mind Cries of my precious frozen angel beckon from inside I feel alive! For once I'm feeling so alive My skin is crawling, I'm completed on this resurrection night This night reveals a morbid truth Love's bounds post-mortally removed As though you never left my side, I hold your stiffened body so close to me For years I've lived in a dream Awake, I felt as dead as my cold and bloodless bride-to-be In rapture my mind is lured by my own knife To join this fragile being who sleeps below The reflection of a razor reveals the moon so perfectly Along my impatient veins its steel does graze With the kiss of suicide! I feel no pain as I lay with my lover and bride The silk lining now stained with my offering I embrace the end of my now worthless life |

| A Perfect Circle – The Noose Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Okay. This is what I think, and I'm pretty sure it's right because it's seemed obvious to me since I first heard the song and looked over the lyrics. There are two major theories here: 1. Someone has been born again into a religion. 2. Someone has recovered from drug or alcohol addiction. Guys, it's both! Look at the name of the album. The Thirteenth Step. That clearly shows a link to recovery from alcohol and/or drug addiction, because of the twelve step programs that are out there. Let's evaluate the twelve step program. The first step they tell you is to acknowledge that there are higher forces than yourself and, inadvertently, ask you to believe in a God (no matter which one). It's pretty simple. Religion and rehab programs are linked. The conclusion: Someone goes into a twelve step program with an addiction, and while in there he becomes 'cleansed' through the forces and guidance of a higher power. Then when he comes out, he is sober and born again into grace through the program, but now he looks down on others who are not as 'pure' as he is now. Maynard brings that person back to reality by pretty much saying "Well, you're high and mighty now... but don't forget how you got where you are now. Remember who you were and the people you hurt before you got better. You're not perfect, and you're never going to be completely cleansed because you can't erase what you've done to others." And there you have it. |

| The Killers – Midnight Show Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Okay. I have done a lot of investigation and reading about The Murder Trilogy. So now, once and for all, I will tell you what it is. This is the correct information. The order of the songs is as follows: 1. Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf. 2. Midnight Show. 3. Jenny Was A Friend On Mine. The story goes like this: First, in Leave The Bourbon On The Shelf, the speaker tells us of a girl named Jenny, whom he is in love with. She is leaving him and he begs her to stay. But she leaves and he then begins drinking away his sorrows. He later sees her with another man and becomes angry and jealous. He decides to kill her. Second, in Midnight Show, he takes the girl out, tempting her with promises of a good time. He wants her, but he wants to kill her more. He takes her to a secluded area, but then he starts having second thoughts. He pushes those thoughts away. He kills her, then dumps her body in the ocean. Realizing what he's done, he flees the scene. Third, in Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine, he is being questioned by the police about Jenny's murder. He gives them a fake story of what happened, hoping to get away. While speaking, he thinks about how he actually killed her, but doesn't say it aloud. One of the cops sees the guilt on his face and knows he did it. It ends with him desperately defending himself, knowing he's been caught. |

| Tori Amos – Caught A Lite Sneeze Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Mister Saint John, just bring your son" There seems to be a bit of confusion and lack of clarity about that line. I always thought that excerpt was in reference to how God asked Abraham to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, to him as an offering of his love and devotion to God. So the first part, "Mister Saint John", I think that the 'Mister Saint' was a sort of sarcastic jab, and 'John' is just a generic name for the man that Tori was addressing. And then the second part, "just bring your son", was like daring him to sacrifice his son for her, show how much he loves her. So pretty much, I think that part was like her saying "Well, Mister I'm-So-Great, show me how much you love me, what would you do?" I could be wrong, but I just think that's what it is. |

| The White Stripes – Jolene (Dolly Parton cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is so amazing. I think that when it's live it's better than the recording, but they're both great. Also, I like this cover better than the original Dolly Parton or any other cover. Because, when live, you can see that Jack puts SOOO much emotion into it. He's pretty much crying, and his voice is cracking, and it's beautiful. In addition, most people don't notice this, but he actually goes higher in the song than Dolly, so that showcases his great range. I just love this song. Magical. |

| Escape the Fate – Cellar Door Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think most people read a little too deep into lyrics. Here's my take on it; it's quite literal. We walked through the doorway Heard you calling from the hall To find you in the bedroom Not breathing at all I drug your body to the cellar where we lay The wax, it melts away I kiss your face. [He has walked in and found that the woman he loves has committed suicide. He drags her body into the cellar of the house and he lays down there with it. The wax is candles that he's burning. So, that just shows that he was laying there for a long time because the wax is melting away. And he just holds her and kisses her face because he's trying to sort of bring her back.] Now we are starting to love you more Your body's on the canvas I painted on the floor [This talks about how now that the woman is gone, everyone is seeing the good about her and they are all loving her more because they didn't realize how much they all cared until she was gone. The body on the canvas is just talking about how he's seeing this all artistically. She's the art, and she's on the canvas that is the floor.] Now you wait like the drug, like the change And the pain it goes on for so long And oh, how it hurts in the worst way now that you're gone It's so wrong It's so wrong [Talking about how the woman used drugs to kill herself. Then he's just saying that his pain is going on for a long time and won't end. And then he just reiterates that he is hurt somewhere deep inside, and he feels a pain that no one should feel.] If I could take you somewhere I'd take you to the darkest place Scatter you in art forms Admire the whore Beauty in different ways Your hands on picture frames Your eyes in the glass Wear your face has a mask [Saying if he could keep the body, he'd go somewhere no one could find them, and he'd disperse her around his house, keeping her alive by using her body parts, then he goes on to say what he would use them for. This could be slightly metaphorical to say he wishes he could keep her around in any way possible.] Now they are starting to love you more A gallery of your beauty No charge at the door [Restating that people care more about her now that she's gone. Also, the gallery of beauty relates back to how he wants to one day use her body to make art, and there's no charge at the door because no one would realize that her body is actually incorporated into these art pieces in his home.] And down below Your veins run dry your vacant eyes I lost control Your face is pale, your body's cold And down below your veins run dry your vacant eyes I lost control Your face is pale, your body's cold [Talking about how down in the cellar, the rest of her body, which he hasn't used for anything or moved yet, is laying there and the blood is drying and her eyes are vacant and she's cold and pale, meaning she's been laying there for a while and is looking worse and worse.] This song is, all in all, very very morbid and sick, but romantic in a creepy way, which I think they were probably going for. The melody is amazing and I love this band so much. Saw them at Warped Tour and lost my voice form screaming. :) |

| Glen Hansard & Markéta Irglová – The Hill Lyrics | 18 years ago |
These are the right lyrics: Walking up the hill tonight and you have closed your eyes. I wish I didn't have to make all those mistakes and be wise. Please try to be patient and know that I'm still learning. I'm sorry that you have to see the strength inside me burning. Where are you, my angel, now? Don't you see me crying? And I know that you can't do it all, but you can't say I'm not trying. I'm on my knees in front of him, but he doesn't seem to see me. With all his troubles on his mind he's looking right through me. And I'm letting myself down by satisfying you, And I wish that you could see I have my troubles, too. Looking at you sleeping, I'm with the man I know. And I'm sitting here weeping while the hours pass so slow. And I know that in the morning I have to let you go. And you'll be just a man once I used to know. Before these past few days someone I don't recognize. This isn't all my fault. When will you realize? Looking at you leaving, I'm looking for a sign. |

| Maroon 5 – Wake Up Call Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I LOVE this song. It's one of my favorites songs at the moment. Maroon 5 is so amazing. And Adam is just a whole league of his own. The song meaning to me is very obvious, Except that I agree with lauraelizabeth. I think that he was being sarcastic, not really regretting shooting him. He regrets not finishing him off: "Is his heart still beating?" So basically, this song's just complete and utter rage and scorn and sweet revenge. I love it. :] |
