| Strung Out – Downtown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The guitars in this song is insane! I remember hearing the solo and not believing my ears, it was just so good and way metal. I remember watching a video of strung out in the studio and someone saying the album would have a particular theme to it and I think it does. Most of the album's lyrics are really pessimisstic and borderline depressing, but its an album of its time. | |

| I want to know what Rob and Jake eat for breakfast. Guitars are by far the best part of the new cd. | |

| This song shows how good Jason is at writing lyrics. I think this song is one of their best on the new cd, what sucks is that this song can resonate with too many people. | |
| Bruce Springsteen – American Skin (41 Shots) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Do not even read anything above my comment. This song was not written about anything these idiots say because somehow I doubt Bruce calculated the amount of magazines on the officers, or if Diallo was laying down, or if it was the LA riots. The point of this song is to think about what your American skin is. In this case, its basically 2 men. One who has a skin of an officer and one who has the skin of the downtrodden and discriminated. They kill each other by literally shooting each other and killing each other figuratively by destroying their souls because their jobs demand it (the police officers) The line that sticks out to me the most is We're baptized in these waters and in each other's blood. It seems like Bruce is describing a war between these 2 people who are trying to live the American dream. However, its ironic that this song is called American skin because America is home of the free and you would think that the home of the free would not ever have something like Amadu Diallo's death EVER happen. It is quite perplexing. |

First off, I love this song. Best Thursday song since This Side of Brightness. WHY DON'T THEY PLAY THIS AT SHOWS!!?? Secondly, I think this song is simply about how love and relationships suck. Thematically, this song could have EASILY fit on War All The Time, thankfully they went for something different on this song and it sounds fuckin great. I can't wait for the next album. |

This song is so good, I love how Thursday has stepped up their game. The song is perfectly orchestrated with perfect touches of piano and strings, or strings played on the piano. This is one of my favorite songs on the new album. Geoff has said that this song is about the bull shit songs on the radio, I think he means bands like Fall Out Boy, P!ATD and that shit. I have a podcast where he says that he was influenced by an book he read about an author who imagined that all his characters would come to life after he wrote them down. Geoff said that if this was really what happened, there would be a lot of depressed people running around saying "fuck you" to their authors. I love how complex this song is and Geoff really has to be some kind of evil genius to be able to have the capacity to write about complex themes like this. Their new(ish) cd reminds me a lot of how Radiohead showed the music community their musical talent, maturity, and complexity with their 1995 release "The Bends" I can't wait for their next full length. |

| Bruce Springsteen – Livin' in the Future Lyrics | 18 years ago |

When I saw Bruce a couple of weeks ago he said that this song was about the United States' people and government letting the things that define us as a country go to waste. For example the bill of rights and habeas corpus, no illegal wire tapping etc. There is a video of him explaining in full on some morning talk show, search it on Youtube. I think this song is amazing. It is classic E Street Band that brings in the ideals Bruce explored on his solo acoustic works. The album as a whole is probably one of my favorites of his, and without a doubt the best of 2007. |
