My interperetation of this song is that "why do you get all the love in the world?" is a question that he is directing towards himself. Lines 1-8 talk of how fucked up he has become, and the next verse talks of the stars in the sky (like being a star=famous) and how he has become lonely, a world away in essense. He wants to know why he gets any love from anyone being who he is. (Only an opinoin. Probably not right.) |

Although the lyrics might be seen as "remedial" they make perfect sense in the point of view of a recovered junkie. It's commonly known Trent's had a big opiate (herion) problem. The first verse introduces him as being this erratic junkie who's heads on a string (like he's a puppet) and he's got his arms "flip flopin" around (shooting up). In the second verse he talk's about making a fist with his one good arm to beat himself up with. (another illusion to shooting up). I think that this song is about how doing herion has made his world smaller. "i'm just a face in the clouds, nothing to worry about." |
