This part of the song is about sleep paralysis, a common phenomenon...it happens to me all the time and it's characterized by feeling paralyzed while asleep, wanting to talk or scream but not being able to, trouble breathing, the feeling of an oppressive aura or presence that can instill fear.
It often happens after a lucid dream. |

I also wished that Sigur Ros would never sing in english...it's kind of upsetting to have an understanding of what's being sung instead of being clueless and still moved to tears. It's a nice song but it doesn't have the passion I'm used to...and I also agree with the statement of All Alright being about Alex. |

the grizzly bear cover of this song is so much better.
it takes the inane stupidity out of it and adds a certain quality to it, a genuine feeling behind it...and you can tell her voice is technologically enhanced too. |
