| great song. there is a lot of ways to take this meaning and apply it to life and or personal situations. but the core meaning is about heroine addiction and the despair of one going through it. 6th and powell is the tenderloin in San Francisco. you would not be getting off at that stop unless you are very poor or very addicted. I don't think the song is about poverty. but again, we can take many meanings from the words... first time I heard it was watching royal tenembaums. very powerful scene. | |

different take on this. he is not telling her he is using her. it is a plea to win her heart. he knows every spot, every breath. her world is his world. and he so wants to be with her. but she does not feel the same. she is making love, 'out of nothing at all'. |

endearing stalker song. like the line in disturbia 'either it is the creepiest thing or the most romantic thing'. i always loved this song because you need to put it out there. show the love. and when i saw napoleon d i thought of love not friendship. that is their 'riding off into the sunset'... a romantic teather balll moment. |

i think there are certain factors of the medium used to experience this song. the written form, the audio form, and (yes, you guessed it) the video form (audio included with video being a given fact). on paper it looks a lot like emotional cheating to those innocent minded souls that want to believe the other did not actually do anything more than 'emotionally cheat'. Hogwash. Listen to the emotion behind the voice(s). It is a plea. There is no "eh, just dump me cuz i am garbage" tone or insuinuation in the voice(s). (S)He...[ i hate this plural multi gender thing and herby give up on trying to be grammatically correct but hang in there i am almost there... now where was I? oh..] They are asking for forgivness, maybe they have been forgiven before. The video is quite misleading but I stand by one thing. She cheated first. She explained. He forgave but then cheated second. He explained. She forgave and they tried to work it out. It was going pretty good. But finally it was realized... NO. Why? Well the song does not go on from there and leaves it up to us as to why. I think it was not "all right". One of them realized this and it was done. Period. But it could also be that one of them strayed again got caught or confessed and that was that. Either way relationships are over once that step is taken. It is the worst thing to do to someone who trusts you and there is no excuse except for "We were at a nudist colony watching the sex scene in 9 1/2 weeks and as i got up to get some popcorn i tripped and landed on his engorged hot dog. the ' i needed attention and i was not getting it from you' line adds insult to injury and just shows how weak of a person the cheater is. Get a dog. Play with whatever instrument you choose. Alone. Or wind up writing poems like this. Sorry, had to stand up on a soap box to reach the keyboard. |
