the first time i heard this song was a few onths ago and it immediatly struck me as a little bit more and a something a little less obvious than a break up. my interpretation: he's in prison for something & had to break up with his girlfriend because of it. "Well I thought that we could sit around and, talk for hours about things I couldn't say to you and things that we could never do" she's visting him in prison, but they can't say much and do much because of people overhearing/guards etc. "This conversation has had no face. When the words take days you can re-write and erase anything" this is like the censors,, re-writing anything in hisletter that he may not be allowed to talk about. "And I'll borrow words from all my favourite paragraphs. To write a ballad while we say the things. We hope would mean the most to me and each letter sent i have found in the pages. The hope for the days when i fell like I've lost everything" this is where hes contemplating what he's done, and writing poetry/this song by borrowing words from famous quotes to express what he's feeling. he's lost everything, the only hope that he has is what he's writing. and various other stuff.."and the lines we said never meant the words we meant" is how they're monitored to what to say..they mean to say more but can't. either this or it's trying to say how trapped or enclosed he feels anyone agree? |

ahh, my boyfriend sent me this and said it reminds me of him especially the last line. its our song,, such an amazing amazing piece of music. "Brace yourself, cause I think I'm coming for you. Look up into the sky" that means line the most to me..the determination in his voice is incredible. its almost like "right, i'm coming now, no matter what, i'm coming for you, so brace yourself because i'm gonna sweep you off your feet; look up in the sky and i'll be with you" it strikes me as a rash action, like a spur of the moment thing because he misses her so much. i LOVE it |

this is so amazingly accurate. it's like when you're a teenager and your there with your boyfriend/girlfriend,, and they come over, you have an amazing time and then they have to go home. it makes you think how much you wish they could just stay forever,, and the point in them coming when you know they have to go home in the end. it's that feeling that made me wish my life away, to wish i was older. then the guy goes and you feel like a prick for ever wanting him to stay.. god, don't you hate songs that do this to you? sit on the goddamn floor and bawl your eyes out(Y) |

i could have related to this a couple of months back, yet now i only look back and think what a gayass the guy was & how much i care for my new man. basically it's about a girl who's so much in love with the guy she can't walk out, despite him hurting her and suchlike. shes giving him more chances because he keeps telling her he's worth it and shes loves him too much to go. it's a sad song to think about it, explains how a relationship can go downhill because of how the other person acts, and how his actions at the beginning of the relationship makes it impossible for her to walk out on him when theres nothing left in it. if that makes any sense =P x |

i agree with halomojo99 in parts. yet there are also lines that suggest he's going out with this girl who he sees himself being inferior to, "though i'm hardly worth your time" but closer to the middle where alex says "If not for you, I know I'd tear this place to the ground" may be linked to how crap he thinks school is, and its only her keeping him from burning the place to the ground. how would you interpret the title from this idea? |

martiz, i often wonder the same thing. seeing as coup de grâce translates into french as stroke of grace/mercy, i would interpret it as whatever it was about this girl that he was in "love" with would have made an interesting story. i would however appreciate someone telling me what "The stars at night aren't as big and bright as you make them out to be" means in relation to everything else? ta(: x |
