Hey there, first of all I want to say that I had to think twice before posting this 'cause it could possibly offend people but now I decided to post and this is what I'm thinking about 'Humpty Dumpty': To me it seems like a song about a woman who struggles with the results of a lost child or even an abortion. There were some things about this song which made me think into this direction, with the title (maybe referring to a pregnant woman) leading the way. Azathoth seems to be right: in my opinion it's something like a call for help. This song describes the feelings of a suicidal person and these dark thoughts are part of it. "And I should contemplate this change to ease the pain" could refer to his thoughts about going to a therapist, clilic or similar. "And I should step out of the rain, turn away." maybe refers to his desire to forget about his past; he just wants to let go and move on. But maybe it's just me ... Anyways: this song is great, his voice is magic and the bassline just gives me the creeps! |

| This song gives me goosebumps. Know that feeling when you're just not present? I like to listen to it in the train or bus. It's that kind of song I listen to when I feel alone. The funny thing is, that I'm not really alone. Even though there are many people around me I feel just alone. Cornell knows how to write authentic songs. But well, it's not only him. Soundgarden as a band is the thing I should talk about. They are just awesome and I can't anything add to it. The only thing I can do is to be grateful. Grateful for such meaningful and beautiful songs. | |
