The meaning's almost entirely tied up in the first verse (amazing this conversation is now over 5 years old) The insanity Is only a narrow bridge The banks are reason and desire He's saying insanity is nothing more than a way to get from reason to desire, so raping her is him on that bridge of insanity until he can reach desire (obviously finishing the raping) Oh don't you see the bridge is burning Stop screaming, don't defend yourself Because otherwise it breaks apart This implies that she will snap out if this insanity if she resists and ruin his moment, the rest of the song is self-explanatory. If anybody has another interpretration this is nothing more than what I think it means it's just everybody was getting side-tracked with Manson, vampires and other things I highly doubt R+ cares about. |

I think most of the song is kind of self-explanatory, the "night is hot and we are stripped" i'm pretty sure means the guy stripped both himself and the corpse after their marraige "To curse the rooster who greets the morning I have his head hacked off" Since using the rooster as a metaphor for the morning is the most logical thing I've heard (and I couldn't even think of a sensible answer on my own) I'm quite sure this means in the end the main character joined his love in death so he would never have to dread the morning again. The one thing I think is signifigant and heavily-overlooked however is the: "There by the bells there is a stone I'm the only one who can read it " Since it's only been a year the stone obviously isn't disinegrating and I think there's more meaning than everybody ignoring it. Does it imply a secret message she and him agreed about or will he not let anybody near the grave. I think whoever can figure out what's truly meant by that line may be able to piece together or confirm the meaning of the rest of the song. Also I think by: "You escape me a second time" He's talking about his g/f death as the first escape, not a refusal to marry him though it doesn't make much difference |
