ms_heth, I think you hit the nail on the head. This is exactly the way I interpret the song. Shows the pain and sorrow involved in knowing you have hurt your loved one. . . and the hope you have that they will take you back in. I don't believe Adams wants everything how it was, just for his love to comfort him again. Only many times those who have been hurt can be very reluctant to give back. |

| Based on my experiences, I see this song as about a previous relationship. I see the guy looking back on what he had with this girl and all the mistakes he made. He regrets ever leaving her, because now that he has realized he left her, all he can see is how amazing she was to him. She use to tell him everything that was going on in her life "secrets" and go to him for advice "ask me your questions" but now he cannot get what he had previously with her. All he wants is another shot with her and to have things the way they were, only better. Its so hard because you can't just go back to the start. we have to live with what we have done. Maybe we will all get a second change. | |

| To me this song is about a couple who holds most their relationship inside their own minds. I see that they aren't in a dating relationship at this point and both have their own idea about eachother, they just haven't had the time/courage/strength to bring it out on the table. The guy is always trying, but he just hasn't gotten that great opportunity. He loves her so much that he is scared to make any move whatsoever. . . because the girl is happy where she is at. Its so self destructive to keep trying and trying with no results, but he just can't give it up. He worries if he stops then she may forget about him and "pass him by." The guy is going to stand firm and hold true to his feelings, its just going to be a long struggle. I don't know how many of you will agree with what I think the song means, but this is just my experiences put into the song. peace | |
