This song perfectly balances the feelings of complete sadness and, yet, self-righteous anger someone who has been broken up with feels. and a lot of the anger is because the other person can move on and usually the one who has been left finds it harder to. and i love how he makes excuses for it. he's trying to undermine how completely heartbroken he is to make it seem like he doesn't care. just ignore the blood on the floor, it's just that heart that i keep on my sleeves for you bleeding. he feels like looking strong will make him feel better when all he really wants to do is catch fire and break down. Oh so kiss him again just to prove to me that you can an I will stand here and burn in my skin the way he says it so resignedly and simply. the candidness is startling and heartbreaking.... he sounds so destroyed and so harowed that it's tangible. it's palpable in sound of his voice. but ray writes beautiful songs and that's what a good song does. it engages you and makes you feel like you're a part of it until it becomes a part of you. |

this and sacred vision are my favorites off the new album i think it's about a girl trying to cope with a break up and she wants so badly just to go back with him to any perfectly ordinary day or "back to the pond with the swans and the swimming". she remembers everything and even scents remind her of him which makes her feel raw and exposed because she's not with him anymore and she knows he doesn't want her back. but it's taught her something because she now realizes that she should love every moment. she should cherish everthing. even her suffering because it will make her grow. she tries to walk away but she keeps relapsing into her despair which has become like a habit she is trying to break. the rain takes the place of her lover as company. she's afraid for the sun to come back because it's gives her an excuse to stay sad and she feels like it connects her to him. she still wants him but she has to much trepedition and doesn't want to put herself out there to get even more hurt "The sun on the sand, on her knees and her hands As she begs for her fish from the water" I think this is tlaking about how futile and purile she feels in wanting to go back to him, almost like begging for a fish from the water. she's only punishing herself by feeling all of this and she's become a slave to her sadness so she decides to move on and, hopefully, "given time she may find something better" |

awww i love this song deffinatly my fav of the walking wounded i just always have it stuck in my head its so cute hes saying how he was always there and always will be no matter how much she doubts it its kind of contradicting itself though because it say "i've traded brick for straw in the house i've built around my heart" but then it say "no huff and puff could dismantle us" soo maybe its saying when youre in love things dont have to make perfect sense as long as it works out in the end which might also explain the "But I dont think I'd want to know cause it would just make time So I could see your smile." part |

this song is amazing i love the shakespeare refrence and perks of being a wallflower is amazing(if you cant tell by my s/n) but yeah i love the line "you wear your skin like its too tight" it just shows how uncomfortable it is to live in your own skin today and the lines In a world where every girl wants to be a model, What's wrong babe? Did daddy not give you enough attention. its just an amazing statement at how everyone today is starved for attention and reassurance when it really shouldnt be that way its cynical and sarcastic and thats something i love about chiodos just everything the music complements the lyrics and everything meshes and it just really tells you what these guys think about society |
