| 311 – Too Much Too Fast Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is about how going too fast in a relationship can doom it. You may have so much love to give, but don't let too much of it come out too fast. | |
| A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song isn't necessarilly anti-religious, this is just how Maynard feels. His mom never broke her faith and he wonders why she hasn't since she's been through so much. If you think it is anti-religious for someone to be angry and question faith for some messed up shit that has happened, then go live in Iran; they don't tolerate that type of stuff there. Otherwise, don't judge a person for how they feel. | |
| 311 – Leaving Babylon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Babylon is a land of iniquity I get the feeling from this song. Especially when it comes to greed. People are starving in the metaphor that is Babylon, but others are making ridiculous amounts of money. In particular I think 311 is talking about Hollywood in this song. They have sang much about how excessive Hollywood materialism disgusts them (i.e. borders) and they are just like yeah we're leaving Babylon. |

I figured it out. I'm surprised more people haven't talked about this song. This song is completely about the image the media (mtv, tv commercials, magazines, etc.) try to have us believe will make us happy. And Nick is talking about the image that people buy into when he goes: "We buy that image that cost of livin' uh huh The fakest shit and act cool our friends are watchin'" It's all fake though they point out. It's a plastic life that people believe will make them happy, but it doesn't, yet some people never learn. The omens they are talking about SA never tells ya, but they don't want you to follow what they say blindly, 311 want you to use your own damn mind and figure out what is making our current economic existence such bs. That's what their song wake your mind up on from chaos is all about. You guys want some omens though? Look no further than our current economy. The stock market is up, but unemployment is high, people are working harder for less money, and nobody's wondering why. So many kids I know your feelin' crazed Crave material thangs and makin' slave wages Don't buy that image. It's what the songs all about. |

| 311 – It's Alright Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Haha, that's the same exact feeling I get from this song. | |
| 311 – Daisy Cutter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is one of the best on the album, but 311 sings about women way too much in this album. Others have explained this song well enough, but i'm disappointed that not one song is politically motivated like "wake your mind up", "borders", "you get worked", "hostile apostle", and "solar flare" were. Nor are many of the songs even that deep in general. | |
| 311 – Golden Sunlight Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"I cannot erase But you helped me face The songs and the flowers" I wonder if this is any add on to the idea they were singing about in Long for the Flowers in their previous album? I think this song is about wanting something in life, but certain things such as having a guard up and self-deception is stopping that, so the song is about what could be if that all went away. |

| 311 – I Like the Way Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This isn't one of 311's deepest songs. It's simply about a girl. It's a pretty self-explanatory song and seems to be a song that tries to please the fans they got from "love song" and "amber". It's just another rock track to make em come back. | |
| 311 – Get Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Yeah a lot of 311's songs have advice in them. Don't Dwell, Reconsider Everything, Jupiter, Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm, among others. This is definitely one of those songs as well. When 311 is saying get down, they are saying get with it. They also told people to "get down" in their song "bomb the town" as well. "It's time to get down to the ground....just go straight into accepted....i won't look back and think twice....in the now, is why we're here" Means: Understand your own reality, accept the way your life has gone and don't look back, just live in the now. There's more to be interpreted in the song, but this is one of the basics of the song. |

I highly doubt this song is about Mexican immigration into the US. It definitely has some lyrics about people who don't have the money to live the LA lifestyle, but to say this song is about Mexicans is unfounded and does not fit into the 311 message. "People actin' fake can't see the omens Wake up yourself cause change is comin'" I always wondered what omens and change SA was talking about there. |

| 311 – Beautiful Disaster Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
If anyone is reading this and you are a new 311 fan, lemme tell ya, the depth at which 311 goes will stun you. Even if you think you understand the point behind a song you find new meaning in lyrics you've heard a thousand times. Like this song for example, nick's singing about some girl he knows who was living the fast life because she didn't want to stop and fix her life and while nick tried to keep up, he couldn't and so he had to let her go. "You wore me out and left me ate up Now I wish you all the luck You're a butterfly in the wind without a care A pretty train crash to me and I can't care" She's a pretty train crash aka beautiful disaster and he can't care. but then right at the end of the song nick throws this out "I do I don't whatever" You ever end things with someone and try not to care, but you do and you don't? Me too. Whatever. Haha |

| 311 – Fat Chance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've seen the devil and the devil is cold I'm not down like that cuz I ain't a f---in joke trip the shrooms fantastic, 'n shit gets drastic I didn't believe I lived As GitFiddle said, it's coke not cold Anyways, I read this article that just came out about mushrooms and I instantly thought of those lyrics from the song haha. "In 2002, at a Johns Hopkins University laboratory, a business consultant named Dede Osborn took a psychedelic drug as part of a research project. She felt like she was taking off. She saw colors. Then it felt like her heart was ripping open." Oh yeah, don't do drugs. |

| 311 – Today My Love Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Today my love we shall let the world slide for we will never be younger again" is a message 311 loves to send out to people. In their song 8:16 am they repeat the message saying: "today my love we shall let the world slide turn off the ringer and just glide for we shall never be younger again then what do you see" The song is pretty self explanatory just by the chorus, but there's a few messages in this song just as there are in many 311 songs. All are pretty self explanatory like: "We all look to the end of a certain social stress i'm down for that day, but don't forget the progress of wakening things up the passion understanding here's to the youth who aren't afraid to put a hand in" 311 shout out to the youth who look to better the world right there. |

| 311 – Wake Your Mind Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's "A wandering soul that's filled with hatred" not "A wandering suld". Suld is not a word. Anyways, this song I think has multiple messages in it and 311 is just saying wake your mind up to some of these pointers. For example: "social engineering keeps us separated media control is highly overrated ignorance is bliss to those uneducated listen to the message cuz it's time we faced it" 311 is saying there a message they want people to hear and wake their mind up to. My most favorite quote by 311 is in this song though: "Well I guess that's life when you see a dark road up the way and I guess that's life when you gotta roll through anyway" Best quote. Even if you see a struggle coming up in your life, you gotta push on through anyway, cuz hey that's life. Then the quote after that talking about how you shouldn't be afraid is pretty good too, but I have no idea what they mean by: "same ghost town as yesterday made you feel like love was miles away" Anyone know? |
