definitely my favourite belle and sebastian song. i think it has a nonchalant quality, particularly exemplified when bobby's voice hits those high notes in the third and fourth lines of each stanza. can't be arsed to write a whole analogy, but i think they're relating love to being a game, hence the references to baseball. just beautiful. |

WITHOUT reading any other interpretations, my first thought is DEFINITELY communism in China. use of the colour red (the fatal flaw of the red age) is an obvious sign pointing to this. also, talk of uniforms and et cetera. fantastic lyrics, like any other Shins song. |
