The Decemberists – The Island: Come and See; The Landlord's Daughter; You'll Not Feel the Drowning Lyrics 18 years ago
i love "you'll not feel the drowning".

it's pretty awesome. it's about death, but it feels like a lullaby.

i always forget it's about death when i'm listening to it.

Bright Eyes – Neely O'Hara Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is beautiful.

i love the total chaos at the end.

and how he just burst out with "lily of the valley" so carefree.

which is also ironic, mixing this spiritual, happy song with a horrible, sad story.

it's just fabulous.

Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics 18 years ago
diskettes:

"But I'd rather be working for a paycheck
Than waiting to win the lottery"

it seems more to me that he wants something tangible.
and he isn't entirely sure that this is really love, but he is going along with it because it's real.

or something to that effect.

Bright Eyes – Old Soul Song (For the New World Order) Lyrics 18 years ago
to me, it seems the flower comparisons are comparing flowers with things we are more familiar with. he says they're like a wall of new TVs. which is ironic to compare something beautiful to a material object. thoughts?
