To me this song is about infidelity. "Got a will that's been around for days, Goes far if you want it ,It needs to behave." As if they need to control themselves but can't. "How much longer can you play with fire before you turn into a liar?" Infidelity was the first thing that came to mind when listening to the song. I don't know if that's apparent to everyone else or not? |

I think maybe he might be saying to be de-fanged? It sounds really close to me and the song is about vampires so it would work. This song is just amazing. I'm on love with it and Foals. |

I have always loved this song and listened to it countless times and I have always imagined that it was just about a daughter trying to make her mother happy and proud of her, something I completely related to. Then the daughter grows up and moves away, and the mother is saying "don't call me daughter" " the picture kept will remind me". I always thought it was the mother telling her daughter to live her life and she doesn't have to call and check in with her anymore and that she has her picture of her to look at when she misses her. The "she holds the hand that holds her down" to me ways the mother being too over protective of her daughter. I quite liked me interpretation and had no idea that it was about dyslexia, but that is very interesting to me. I think it's cool to know what the artist was intending to get across in their songs but I think it's good to relate to a song anyway you can. Amazing song. I can appreciate the true meaning. |

For me everytime i hear the song i can imagine its about sex. "you gotta promise not to stop when i say when". Meaning please don't stop even when I tell you I'm "done" as in done organsming? I don't know, thats what I think of but no matter what the songs about listeners should hold on to their own interpretation. As long as it means something to you, that's all that matters. I don't like to think that its about dave grohl cheating on his wife cause that's just kind of sad and depressing. But this is absolutely one of my all time favorite songs. |
