Sade – Is It A Crime Lyrics 13 years ago
I don't understand how there can be a dispute concerning interpretation of the correct lyrics. The line is "wider than Victoria Lake" and this can be seen where the band's song lyrics are displayed on the official website at http://www.sade.com/

Very well said! I've a dj friend who actually wants to name the remix he's working on for this track (Illegal Immigrants Mix).

A Camp – Love Has Left The Room Lyrics 14 years ago
'Once it settles down
And the fire has burned out
What do you think you'll find
Poking through the embers'

When hearing Nina sing this portion of the song live, her expression of the lyrics blew me away. Really, just launched this song to the top of my charts. And this entire analyzation of the concept of love being fire burning, while it is cliche, was delivered brilliantly with the follow up. Once fire settles to the subtlety of glowing embers, anyone who wants to keep the flame going will prod around hoping to spark it up again. Love that comparison.

Noisettes – 24 Hours Lyrics 14 years ago
The chorus spills the song's core meaning right away. Due to lyrics, this can be easily be seen as a one night stand and she's reminiscing, romanticizing the time together. The way I hear it, this can be thought of as an ode to an exceptionally good time with someone you parted ways with just the day before. I like to think, it was a connection of two people, beginning as a friendly gesture and as they continued on, they felt a romantic chemistry neither of them would confirm or deny. They acted on physical impulse, quite clearly enjoyed themselves and moved on the next day. The song's perspective is one half of the pair looking back to think, wow, that was great. Instead of letting that be just a memory, maybe I should pursue this.

Fefe Dobson – As A Blonde Lyrics 14 years ago
This one may or may not be targeted at Avril Lavigne. Since her (Avril's) music made radio airplay and sold out well to the masses, Fefe was (unknowingly) being geared up as Def Jam's response to that particular music scene. I've always been in support of Fefe because she got out there and did her thing, yet there was always fuss that she was trying to capitalize on Avril's success (both of them being Canadian). I think 'As A Blonde' is a tongue in cheek retort on that situation. Being labeled, 'the black avril' and never getting a chance to truly shine in her field without having an unfair, constant comparison. So what she's singing here is if she came back as a blonde (the signature pop icon hair color) maybe the success, the wealth, the fan following, would just land in her lap.

A Camp – Algebra Lyrics 14 years ago
I love how this was slyly rehashed in The Cardigans album Long Gone Before Daylight.

'i travelled east and i travelled west
and i found a boy with a heart on his chest'.

As featured in the song, 'Lead Me Into The Night'

Catherine Wheel – Thunderbird Lyrics 14 years ago
great song, especially the way he drags out the truth line. boyfriend heard me playing this in my car and now insists that this is an ode to the "bum wine" Thunderbird. i'd still like to believe it runs deeper than just that.
