What I get from this song is from personal experience. I heard it when I was going through the ending of a friendship, where I was completely in love with my best friend..and thought by his words and his actions that he had felt the same. We never told anyone that we had been getting together, and always put up the friends front when we weren't alone. Out of nowhere he dropped off the face of the earth. I was so hurt because he had fed me all these lines--and I wish that if had just not felt the same he should have said so--"Why'd you fill my sorrow, with the words you borrowed, from the only place that you've known? And why'd you sing Hallelujah--if it means nothing to you...why'd you sing with me at all?" That's what I get from it. Beautiful song, I love when you run into songs at the perfect time in your life. |

After I heard this song the first time--it was on repeat in my car for a week straight. As for the lyrics--Here's what I'm thinking: This woman broke this guys heart, but he just can't come to terms with it--and can't figure out why--but it's Something. It's like when a friend asks you, "What is it about them--Why are you so hung up on them?" And you go "I dunno, dude--but I sure know something.." haha, does that make any sense? |
