It's the metaphor of the burning car that gets me: A car's on fire in the parking lot And nobody wants it to rain But God isn't listening So all the windshields glisten The water and oil mix Causing the fire to spread To five or six Innocent automobiles Waiting in the nearby spots Oh, what a cruel God we've got ...that all of our actions have an effect on others, for the man in the song, he ditched his child and the listener questions what effect that will have on the toddler's life. On a greater plane, though, it reminds us that all of our choices have an impact on many, many other people. This is my favorite song on this album. It holds deep sentimental value for me. |
