I think there are a couple of opinions here that hit the spot. Listening to the lyrics at face value, its seems to be about killing "us", as stated, to save both people from what they may ultimately become. In watching the video, it seems to be split among the different people. The older people including the police officer are being killed by their addictions, such as gambling, pharmaceuticals, and so on, while the children, with hope and faith and all of the other wonders of childhood, are saving society, by giving it a bright future, where it moves forward and survives on love and helping each other, instead of being held hostage by your meaningless addictions. |
