| Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare) (feat. MGMT & Ratatat) Lyrics

one word - alcoholism. i can totally relate to this - late nights, cold sweats, night terrors. i'll be fine once i get it. (once i kick this habit and get over it) which will incidentally never happen unless you get real help. i can't really believe this song is just about getting fucked up and partying. i'd guess that kid cudi or someone who helped write the song had some issues with alcohol. that's the part about this song for me that makes it good. |

gotta love those tarantino selections - i immediately thought of drugs when i heard this song. i'm pretty straight laced besides booze and pot, but when i read about hearing colours or seeing feelings it reminds me of a lot of stories i've heard before. just a thought |

ani difranco is all about digging inside women and telling the truth about how they real feel about things. im being real when i say this - for a lot of women, the act of going down on a man can feel demeaning, just because. a lot of women don't enjoy it for that reason. i'm not saying my interpretation is correct, but i think it must make sense to someone else. you shouldn't be going on websites that might contain content that's rated above PG-13 if you're planning on being so wimpy. |

LILEX - just because my boyfriend asks me to use both hands when going down on him doesn't make me a pig. apparently you are a little sensitive to the subject of sex. i don't think anyone else minds too much. i'm not saying it to OFFEND anyone. it's just sex! you stumbled into a page full of opinions, you're gonna' have to expect that shit. this is my interpretation of it - there's nothing sickening about it at all. hate to sound cliche but sex is a natural thing!! if you can't handle a little sex talk, you really need to get out more. and for the sake of your argument, what is this song about again? |

very strange also how so many people agree... i thought i was the only one who was taken back by that part, as the change in his voice is kind of subtle. but anyway, it's perfect. |

God, when that "i have no idea" part kicks in it is absolutely brilliant. The whole song is great but that one part Tweedy's voice is unreal. "

use both hands is what my boyfriend says to me when i'm going down on him... i just hope no old ladies behind pink curtains are watching.
this last interpretation is totally wrong.
ani difranco is more a feminist than a self-inflict abuser. you know ladies, when you're having sex with a man, giving him head... and you like it but you KNOW it's demeaning... that's what she's talking about. what ani was doing with that guy at the time was mimicking how HARD they were trying to make things work at that moment... how sad it was that she was doing this for him when she didn't even feel he was completely worthy of it... even more so because they both knew the relationship wasn't working.
you've all felt this... she digs into subconcious thoughts of women. |

when i first heard this song, i wasn't shaking with an orgasm like i do with the rest of her songs, but i was intriguied as i had no fucking idea as to what the lyrics were. and then i read them and just about cried!! how brilliant. the variety of all of these differents situations make me think that this song is not about one particular thing... i think the lyrics are mocking naive people that are shocked and amazed at things that may seem like nothing to people who have experienced a thing or two. it's supposed to be direct advice towards these types of people. i've actually heard people use some of these terms as figures of speech (especially better call the ships, they've been caught sailing) but in this song they just seem like useless analogies. but it's like all of these analogies are stemming off of one familiar one and then together they blend slowly create the image of the song. the last few lines sum it all up. of course, like everyone else here, i could be totally wrong. i can't believe somebody would be bored with this song! |

love502, you could make that all one category AKA the death of celebrities. but i think the most fitting one would be kurt cobain's death. however, i think people forget that a good artist can write about anything they want to as long as their music is good... and this could be something entirely personal. it might have nothing to do with any paritcular situation that we know about. |

maybe they don't need to come up with something original because that is what it is. a song interpretation does not need to be original... a song means what it means, you can't change the meaning and shouldn't be trying to. there may be a few cat power songs about her overcoming alcoholism but i don't think people intend to make that what her entire existance is all about. |

haha okay are you fucking kidding me? anorexia? it seriously drives me nuts that people assume certain songs have these ridiculous elaborate meanings. did the why am i still hungry part make ya think about that? this song is straight forward. she wants to be like water, something incomplex... something that somebody else wants her to be. but she can't be that simple because it's not in her. easy peasy!! |

and in response to nn1000, now that i've read your interpretation the meaning seems more clear. but i think the last line is thom mocking people who create our fear, people who will keep us from thinking what we want to think and from being regular human beings. if you wanted to understand it further, think about a teacher and a student. think about the education system and how fucked up it is... and how it keeps kids from being who they are. |

fucking sexy. that one part where he hits that note... you know what i'm talking about. goddamn!! "don't get any big ideas, they're not gonna' happen." i love that part of the song, because i feel like that's what people are saying to me all the time. i have no idea what this song is about but it makes me feel really good. |

| Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics

I really like the concept of a house of cards and I loooove the way he sings this song. But the first time I heard it, I gotta' be honest, I thought it sounded a little cliche and little too much like some of their other stuff. "I don't wanna' be your friend, I just wanna' be your lover. Now matter how it ends, Now matter how it starts." That part sort of bugs me, because it sounds like I've heard it in several other places. In comparison to what Radiohead used to be able to do, I wouldn't say this song is the greatest. Albums like Kid A & Amnesiac had much more thoughtful meaning. A song doesn't always have to have elaborate meaning, in fact I prefer simple. I believe that hey can do better, but it is an intelligent concept, of course, because they created it. |

| Matthew Good Band – Going All The Way Lyrics

I really wish people would stop assuming that every song has something to do with RELIGION or THE GOVERNMENT or SUICIDE. Not every song has some crazy elaborate meaning. Think about it, the concept is pretty simple. All he's saying is that there are a lot of fucked up, hypocritical, phony people in this world but those people are of no significance anyways. Therefor, what the fuck is the point in trying to prove yourself? What is there to lose? The people who are seemingly beautiful on the outside merely wear "shit eating grins," and there's no reason to fear that, because everything they are is just a result of fear anyhow. This song gives me such a comforting feeling. I don't know how many times I've felt like this and wanted to "go out all the way" with somebody else. |

tacobandit, wicked interpretation. you've got the elements of this song pretty spot on. and fuck you retards who say aesop talks a bunch of bullshit. so it takes a bit of a brain to understand this shit, and yes you have to be a little analytical, but that's what's so great about it. quit using that as an excuse for your stupidity and inability to understand what he's talking about. this stuff is QUALITY and it's intense. it makes me shiver goddamnit! |
