| Immortal Technique – Freedom Of Speech Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"I love the place I live, but I hate the people in charge" This is what every American with left winged ideals should say when they hear some conservative idiot say, "if you don't love America then get the fuck out." |
|
| Kanye West – We Can Make It Better Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
The answer to your question marks: Kweli says, "Kweli the truth like I'm coming out the mouth of Beans" He's referencing Beanie Sigel's album, "The Truth". Common says, "I'm thinkin big, like Lil Wayne in the Carter." Referencing Lil Wayne's 'Tha' Carter albums |

| Mos Def – The Rape Over Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I heard the song was about Lyor Cohen, seems likely considering the Israeli line. | |
| Nas – Take It In Blood Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Lupe Fiasco's favorite song of all time, just an interesting tidbit for everyone who loves this song as much as I do. | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Theme Music to a Drive-By Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
'Hello My Name' stickers on the stickers of the veins in rehab, Remembering the feelings when they used to get mellow, When they was on back of a nickel like Monticello I remember the first time I heard this song, I grabbed a nickel out of my pocket and to my delight, saw the word 'Monticello.' It makes me mad when some of my friends say, "He's like Kanye, he's deep and raps about important topics but he's not someone who has great punchlines." The truth is, he's deep AND he has unbelievable punchlines. |

| OutKast – Ghetto Musick (feat. André 3000) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Forget OutKast AND Vanessa Carlton, Colbie Callat is where it's at! | |
| OutKast – Rosa Parks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
timarasa, I first heard this son when I was about 10, and ever since I have had this stereotypical vision in my mind of Andre 3000 on a bus being lectured by a women who is a palm-reader. I would have never caught that Badu reference if you hadn't told me. |
|
| OutKast – Aquemini Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Everyone who thinks Lil Wayne is the "best rapper alive" should be tied down to a chair and forced to listen to Andre 3000's verses. | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Dumb It Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Just to clarify some questions people had that were never answered: "Something really stinks but I sphinx like Leon A Lion in the desert" Like practically every single line in this song, this one is multi-layered. One definite meaning of this line that others on this board have failed to acknowledge is that the nose on the Great Sphinx of Giza in Egypt is missing. |

| Lupe Fiasco – Hip Hop Saved My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yes, I look at this song is a 4min 3secs long movie. A main character, a plot, a conflict, a climax...and an amazing script lol. | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Failure Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Excluding the content and message, this is lyrically his best song. I am going to go ahead and say that no other song is close to this one in terms of metaphors, puns, etc, | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Hurt Me Soul Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| What is CCF? I've heard him say it in a few other songs. | |
| Kanye West – Heartless Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is significantly better than love lockdown | |
| Jay-Z – Hello Brooklyn 2.0 (feat. Lil Wayne) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"My Fine hoe we got some victims to catch, so in a couple years I'ma bring you some nets" awesome line referring to Jay-Z being a part-owner of the New Jersey Nets, and how hard the franchise is trying to migrate from NJ to Brooklyn. |
|
| Lil' Wayne – Tie My Hands Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"Some say tragedy is hard to get over But some time that tragedy means its over, soulja" The deepest line on tha carter III. He's referring to the fact that only 1/3 of low income housing that was available pre-Katrina in New Orleans will be rebuilt. Huge numbers of New Orleaneans will have to move away or become homeless because of gentrification. Basically, Wayne is saying that things are looking grim for the lower-class population in post-Katrina New Orleans. The poor people of New Orleans aren't just dealing with all the innocent people who died; they are fighting to stay in the land they've lived in their whole life. |

| T.I. – Swagga Like Us Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Lil Wayne actually says "No one on the corner has swagger like moi, "Church" but I'm too clean for the choir" "Runnin this shit like I got four thighs no one has swagger like these four guys" |
|
| Lil' Wayne – Apologize (Remix) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| hahaha someone should really tell Bun-B that bankers don't really have to worry about their jobs getting outsourced | |
| Immortal Technique – Bin Laden Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
From Wikipedia about this song: The song accuses the Bush administration of destroying the twin towers on 9/11, not Osama bin Laden. This was not meant in a literal sense, Immortal wrote on his website (9/7/05 news post), "I wrote in "The Cause of Death" that Bush was not responsible directly, that he didn't plan 9/11, but him and his definitely benefited from the end result of all those people dying." |

| Lupe Fiasco – Blackout Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
yeah i put this down after only like the 2nd time hearing it, I just was disturbed by the notion that lupe lovers did not have the option of discussing this work. But the "ace summer sleeve" line is not a mistake. He's making a reference to the bandage wrapping, as well as the "ace up my sleeve." Think about it, "Ace Summer sleeve, like my hand hurt." It's lines like these that make me love Lupe. |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Superstar (Remix) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| TI's verse is definitely somewhat directed at that bodyguard who told the police about TI's fondness of automatic weapons. | |
| Sublime – Doin' Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| feelingroovy1903 might have a point that the song could be about heroin, but the beatles song, "hey jude" is NOT about drugs. it's a song paul mccartney wrote to john lennon's son Julian after John and Cynthia Lennon broke up. | |
| Fall Out Boy – This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race (Remix) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| lupe once again has a verse that puts other artists to shame | |
| Kanye West – Touch The Sky Lyrics | 18 years ago |

|
| Lupe Fiasco – Conflict Diamonds Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
i don't think he's saying "fuck the 'fuck bush' idea" because at a show of his in Seattle, he started screaming "fuck president bush, the worst fucking president ever!" (exact quote). and he then dedicated American terrorist to GW Bush. I've always interpreted the song as him making a joke because he says "I ain't pushing an agenda/ homie, I'm just pushing the facts/ Fuck Bush!/ meaning he is pushing an agenda |
|
| Kanye West – Good Morning (Intro) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| yes it is Jay-Z saying that, from his song "The Ruler is Back" | |
| Kanye West – Flashing Lights (feat. Dwele) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I'm glad I'm not the only Kanye fan who was disturbed by the "Damn I hate these niggas more than the Nazis." My least favorite line on the album by far. | |
| Lupe Fiasco – Hurt Me Soul Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"But I learnt it from a song I heard and sorta liked" Is there a reason that when he says "sorta" it sounds a lot like "serta," anyone care to explain? |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Pressure Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Not for sale like W's" It's a Wheel of Fortune reference just like the lines "They were sellin' O's (Oz) like Wheel of Fortune," and "I guess, I was just guessin' like the consonants" In the show, you have to pay extra money to guess a vowel. In case you didn't get it, O's is also referring to ounces of coke. |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – The Emperor's Soundtrack Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Who the hell is Marvin Billups??? | |
| Lupe Fiasco – The Coolest Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
A match made in heaven set the fires in hell. dang, my mug just dropped seeing at how Lupe's verbal is able. I've listened to the song god knows how many times and never caught that line or the "hurt ya soul" line. The Cool took me a while to get into, I was disappointed at first because I had high expectations (greatest album ever). I should have known I wasn't listening closely enough, best album ever hands down. One thing though, why does he say "and every thing's irie?" I know what the word means literally, I just don't get how it fits this context. |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Go Baby (feat. GemStones) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| He says "they want me to leave my Dame like the fella from Marcy" because Jay-Z (who hails from the Marcy Projects) who used to be best friends/business partners with Dame Dash. When Jay-Z became president of Def Jam Records, he took Rocafella (Music label that they co-owned) Records and all of its promising artists with him. The move left Dame Dash in the dust and the two haven't spoke to each other since Jay-Z left him; even though Jay-Z was the godfather of Dame's son. | |
