| Wolf Parade – Fine Young Cannibals Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this is my favorite song on the new album. i agree that after listening to many different wolf parade songs (including AMZ), i preferr Dan's singing to Spencer's. but i do love Spencer's singing, still; i just like it better on some of Apologies' songs and with Sunset Rubdown. anyway, it's pretty clear that this song is about struggles in a relationship. |

| The Shins – Those To Come Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"eyeless in the morning sun" to me is simply visual imagery of the rising sun glaring in your eyes, or if you're wearing glasses and the sun reflects light off of them; how in the morning when the sun rises, when it glares on your face, you can't really see the person's eyes, just the light. most of this song i think is the singer watching his lover move about in the morning after a night together, watching her make tea and breakfast. a lot of the nature imagery makes me think of the way dew glistens on the blades of grass and everything in the morning. it's a beautiful, quiet, peaceful scene under a sunrise, and yet he thinks about how all this beauty is cyclical --> life and death. |

think about it. a sister can also be a NUN. a brother can refer to a black person. ;) |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Date with the Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |

to me, the first line ("i got a date with the night burning down my finger") makes me picture someone who lit a match. it's probably got drug references in it. but it's totally about sex. |

| Cat Power – Don't Blame You Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think that this song could be about Kurt Cobain. "Last time I saw you, you were on stage Your hair was wild, your eyes were red You were in a rage You were swinging your guitar around. Cause they wanted to hear that sound That you didn’t want to play." ...Sounds like a lot of Nirvana's shows/Kurt's behavior on stage. Fans cheering for them to play the radio hits like 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' probably began driving him mad. "Been around the world, in many situations Been inside many heads in different positions But you never wanted them that way. What a cruel price you thought that you had to pay. And that for all that shit on stage." ...He never intended to be famous, it was a complete accident. The impact he had on people felt so unnatural to him, a severely self-conscious heroin addict from out of nowhere. "They said you were the best, But then they were only kids Then you would recall the deadly houses you grew up in Just because they knew your name, Doesn’t mean they know from where you came What a sad trick you thought that you had to play. But I don’t blame you" ...Kurt had a f*cked up childhood, as is described in some of his songs. He came from literally nothing and yet his fans thought of him as a godlike figure. The "I don't blame you" may be that she doesn't really blame him for killing himself after all that... |
