Saw Kevin last night in Louisiana. When he played this song, I couldn't stop from crying. I've talked to him about this song before & how much it means to me, even though I look at some of the ideas differently than he wrote them. I said that when I'm having the shittiest day ever if i listen to this song & get to "i'm okay, okay" I feel like I can handle anything. When I hear it, I feel like there's a lot of strength in that phrase, as simple as it may be. He told me that's the reason why he does what he does: to be able to write what he feels & thinks & to have people relate it to their own lives. He made my night when he signed my copy of Brother's Blood "Ashton - Keep Your Head Up." |

saw him last night in Louisiana. Talked after the show & I told him that I knew at some point he'd make me cry during the night (which he did), but if he had played this song for some reason, I would have become a wreck. So much emotion & pain. Every time I hear it my eyes well up with tears. Easily one of my favorite songs ever. |

'Was it in the cold of that knife you screwed?' [The Hound (of Blood and Rank)]
'With the turn of this knife know, I will take your life.'
Revenge on Mayo? Finally killed by a knife. There are so many connections and motifs within all the songs. I wish I knew more. I didn't really like this song at first, but it's grown on me. |

i thought the same thing about how it starts almost exactly the same as the light and the glass. kinda makes sense that it would also go with always and never. i love all of these motifs! (always and never is 2:24 and the reaping is 1:14...interesting? probably not, but i've become a nerd over finding things like that). |

is it just me, or does the beginning violin part sound similar to the beginning of "keeping the blade" on good apollo 1? and at 4:46, does the little piano part sound like the trademark coheed and cambria tune (the ring in return/second stage turbine blade) but jazzed up? i was kinda disappointed that the new album didn't have a track that had that obviously in it, so maybe i'm looking too hard for it to be there.
i've think i have a pretty good understanding of the story, but what exactly does "amory" mean? i know it's the amory wars, but what is amory (other than a city in mississippi)? |
