| Old Crow Medicine Show – Wagon Wheel Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I found this song right as my life was turning a corner from a sad, unhappy existence to one full of life and love. I will forever associate it with letting go and embracing laughter, living in the moment, and companionship. | |

I first heard this song recently, and it has struck a chord with me. I'm breaking up from a 7 year relationship and we were supposed to get married in October. To me, this song is about the person in my future who I will finally be happy with, who I haven't met yet. "The journey's long And it feels so bad" This is what I'm going through right now, but I know it will end eventually. "I'm bending time getting back to you Old moon fades into the new " Even though I haven't met her yet, I'm desperately seeking her. The chorus is about the way we will be. |

I first heard this song on Warren Miller's "Fifty" and I was blown away. Considering how perfectly it fit the scene, next time I'm shredding 2 feet of fresh powder in the sunshine, you can bet I'll have this song blaring on headphones. For me, it captures perfectly the feeling of "You look down on me and abandoned me and I hate that, but I still look up to you and I'll get by just fine on my own." I can't believe I hadn't heard this before. |

It's a stream of consciousness song. He's taking all of the turmoil and anxiety he's feeling from 200 different sources and laying it all on the line. "Daddy was a rollin' rollin' stone He rolled away one day and he never came home It ain't hard to understand This ain't Hitler's master plan What it takes to be a man In my mind, in my brain I roll it over like a steamin' freight train It ain't hard to ascertain" In this part, he's trying to figure things out. Figure out exactly why he's where he is and what he has to do to live up to expectations. The next verse is just a rant about general frustrations - tricky hoes, people calling him a loudmouth, that goddamn rash that won't go away, the fact that he wants breakfast and leftover fried chicken is all that's in the fridge. The next part expresses a little more pain. He has a broken heart, but he's not going to get down about it, he's going laugh about it and be a total asshole. Finally, after getting all of this out, he gets exhausted and says whatever, "it's all the same in the end." |

| Sure, great music can be interpreted different ways, but some interpretations are pretty dumb. Why does everyone on this site think every song has to be about drugs? But hey, why fight it? I think I'll go over to the "I'm Just a Girl" board and suggest that that song is about LSD, because that's what it means to me. | |

| I love this song. I have felt the vibe this song gives off so many times in my life. Sitting by yourself, maybe with your dog, breathing the crisp air, smoking a bowl and thinking about going somewhere else. It's about the moment you realize that you've settled into your current life a little bit too much and need to shake things up and get in the car and just drive. | |

Love this song. The vibe makes me want to go crazy, let go of my inhibitions, and indulge in completely destructive behavior. My interpretation of the song is tainted by the fact that I first heard it accompanied by Brenda's rampage through her apartment in Six Feet Under. Still, it perfectly fit the mood and that meaning is good enough for me. The lyrics themselves... they're about the progression of a relationship. The guy gets her number, they get together, it devolves into a rhythm of him being mopey and needing support, and she finally says "enough!" |

I can't believe people honestly think this is about pot. This song has absolutely nothing to do with pot. "Hurt myself again today"? Seriously folks, if you think that the level of emotion and pain in this song is remotely relevant to taking a few puffs, you need to stop watching Reefer Madness and start living your life. Even though the emotional layers of this song are highly complex, the message is simple: she's lonely, experiencing a lot of pain, possibly self-mutilating and just wants a friend to be with her fully to give her a reprieve from the pain. This song takes a fundamental human condition that many people can relate to and expresses it as beautifully as could possibly be done. That's what music is all about. |
