Laura Marling – You're No God Lyrics 11 years ago
It's all in the title of this song.....You're No God = You're not special so shut the hell up and keep on keeping on. We love, we die, we are human. Such a simple beautiful message.

Indigo Girls – Dead Man's Hill Lyrics 15 years ago
To me this is a "coming of age" story about ones sexuality (realization of homosexuality??). The mix of excitement and shame. The longing and ache for each other.

The chorus is what say it all to me. "Don't you write it down. Remember this in your heart". Knowing that you are feeling something perceived as "wrong" yet can't over come the emotional power of it. "(Talk to me face to face)". Never fully communicating your thoughts and emotions and always having to read the subtly and nuances of relationships/situations.

I'm always emotionally moved when I listen to this song. Such mature writing/ideas on such a immature subject.

Indigo Girls – Love Will Come to You Lyrics 17 years ago
I have to agree with Jubjubgurl, this song seems to hinge on more of a realist's point of view about love. I don't think it's bitting sarcasm she is trying to portray, rather a "we had love, we lost love, I wish you love in the future". She is saying that, although she is hurting from her loss and that love is hard for her to come by, she none-the-less wishes her ex the love they could have had, yet did not achieve. Now that is a beautiful and mature statement. Favorite line is the last line "Learn to pretend there's more than love that matters", which pretty sums up the entire song and life.

Frou Frou – Breathe In Lyrics 18 years ago
I feel that this song is more about human relationships and the cyclic feelings that transpire from them over time. In the first verse she's saying that she knows him inside and out. She's watching him from a far, flirting with some other person "finessing an innocence".

During the chorus, she's professing the raw attraction that occurs between two people, yet questions the actual "idea" of that feeling. What we would put into words. "Cause I love. No?" Can't help but love you, no. (statement)

The bridge builds to a frenzy of doubt. "Is this it?" Meaning, is this what it's (realtionships, life, living with these feelings) all about? Does it end here? Should I move on? But, I love him? Doubt. So much so that when she looses touch with reality for a minute, and then gets sucked back into the world around her. We've all been lost in our thoughts from time to time. Especially when we are in emotional turmoil.

In the end, she decides to continue with the relationship in its present form. Waiting for the next change in the cycle.

Just my 2 cents.
