Lewis88 has a very positive/good outlook on this song. However, I interpret this a little differently. I find it to be about a couple, eh? everything's great and everything. and he says that he will keep it that way until " the bitter end" what I see from that is that he is aware that there will be an end to this. I don't think he means death by this 'bitter end' either. "I tried to find someone who cares, it never gets you anywhere." I think he's getting somewhere, therefore, the girl doesnt care. I could be wrong, but every interpretation is different :D and Lewis88, indeed, it is a beautiful song. and I am also surprised as to why there arent more comments! |

this song is rather self explanatory if you ask me. It's about a guy who is dating a girl eh? and he doesnt want to feel paranoid, but he does. simply because the girl in his life is flirting and kissing other boys. and in the beginning the friends act strange because they are trying to help the girl hide her actions. and she gossips about him to his friends, just trying to get into his friend's pants unfortunately. |

What I think this song is about is most likely wrong, but i'll give it a shot. anyhow, so the guy is simply trying to forget everything, and change his ways "i'm runnin' water through my mind" and the whole deal with the girl and speaking spanish is due to the fact that she misses the man he used to be. and he makes a smart remark, "why don't you speak in spanish?" to reflect it back at her. |

What I see out of this song, is simply a couple knowing whats ahead of them. A break up. As you see, in the beginning, he says "that's what I'M waiting for" and towards the end he goes "Thats what WE'RE waiting for" therefore, he realized that the relationship was falling apart, and then the girl discovered that a little later. p.s. Modest Mouse is an amazing band. |
